Carolyn M. Wallace

Carolyn was born on March 31, 1961, to William and Patricia Waterson. Dad was in the U.S. Air Force, so Carolyn grew up in many different places, including North Carolina, New York, Texas, Nebraska and Taiwan. Her best friends (and the ones that followed her on all her moves) were her siblings, Beth and Bill, and her books. Early favorites were the Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis, the Robert Heinlein juveniles, and the stories of the Grey Lensman and the Galactic Patrol by E.E. "Doc" Smith.

Having had several to choose from, Carolyn claims Chapel Hill, North Carolina as her home town. She spent the largest portion of her life there, graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a BA in Education in December of 1982, then working there for the following 11 years.

They say the average American will have six careers during his/her lifetime and Carolyn is currently working on both #3 and #4. She's been a teacher's assistant, a secretary, and now works as a graphic artist who experiments with creative writing. How did that happen, you may ask?

Tiring of secretarial work, in the fall of 1994 Carolyn moved to New Jersey to attend (you've already guessed this by now, haven't you?) the Joe Kubert School with the goal of becoming a commercial artist. In her class there was a young man named Loston Wallace with whom she was very impressed. It turned out the feeling was mutual; they were married a year and a half later on April 13, 1996. A week after that, she was hired by PACE, Inc. A Division of Lowe Healthcare Worldwide, where she works today as a New Media Designer.

Carolyn first started writing "seriously" in 1997. Her first novel, The Hero, The Priestess And The King Of Thieves, was set in the HERCULES: THE LEGENDARY JOURNEYS universe (all applicable trademarks and copyrights reserved). She completed the book in November of 1998, only to find out that the publisher was no longer accepting manuscripts for that series. Nothing daunted, she completed a second novel, Lethe Weapon*, set in the XENA: WARRIOR PRINCESS universe; and is currently suffering through the long submission process in hope of eventually seeing it published.

Carolyn loves science fiction and fantasy, but she also enjoys books with anthropological, psychological and/or metaphysical leanings, such as The Alphabet Versus the Goddess, Emotional Intelligence and The New Inquisition. Her favorite song is Louis Armstrong's rendition of "It's A Wonderful World," and her favorite movies include WHAT DREAMS MAY COME, EVIL DEAD II, YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN, and THE PRINCESS BRIDE. Her future goals are to collaborate on a graphic novel with Loston and to achieve apotheosis in her lifetime.

*Not a typo, folks. It refers to the mythological River Lethe that carried the Water of Forgetfulness.
