Apollonia
Apollonia is the capital of Sifnos island ("chora" as locals say). Apollonia is a name that is used recently as before the name was "Stavri". Stavri comes from the general word "stavros" that means cross, cross road..Apollonia means the city dedicated to god Apollon.She bacame the capital at 1836.
Apollonia is been build on the top of three hills and has nice view to the sea and to Paros island.The houses as most of Sifnos villages are build very close to each other as there is lack of space.Beautiful small paths leeds you to the remote places.All the paths are laid with stones are kept very clean and painted.
