Somebody Has To
By-Shel Silverstein
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
They're looking a little bit dull.
Somebody has to go polish the stars,
For the eagles and starlings and gulls
Have been complaining they're tarnished and worn,
They say they want new ones we cannot afford,
So please get your rags,
And your polishing jars,
Somebody has to go polish the stars
Gods Wheel
By-Shel Silverstein
God says to me with a kind of a smile,
"Hey how would you like to be god for awhile and steer the world?"
"okay," Says I, "ill give it a try.
Where do I set?
How much do I get?
What time is lunch?
When can I quit?
"Gimme back that wheel," Says God,
"I don't think you're quite ready yet."
Lady of the Mist
By-Darren Lennon
I watched her though she did not exist
saw myself a ghost by her side
White morning mist her pale olive complexion
I hid within her eyes
The air was moist with her breath
she hunted the night
Her white dress danced between the moonlit trees
Leaves rained about her
quietly she faded into the night
Her white dress now just a star
Lost in a galaxy of others
Going To Heaven
By- Emily Dickinson
Going to Heaven!
I don't know when --
Pray do not ask me how!
Indeed I'm too astonished
To think of answering you!
Going to Heaven!
How dim it sounds!
And yet it will be done
As sure as flocks go home at night
Unto the Shepherd's arm!
Perhaps you're going too!
Who knows?
If you should get there first
Save just a little space for me
Close to the two I lost --
The smallest "Robe" will fit me
And just a bit of "Crown" --
For you know we do not mind our dress
When we are going home --
I'm glad I don't believe it
For it would stop my breath --
And I'd like to look a little more
At such a curious Earth!
I'm glad they did believe it
Whom I have never found
Since the might Autumn afternoon
I left them in the ground.
