"SPECIAL"

Up Date Page

In doing living history and in chatting with folks on the computer, I have met some fantastic people. One such wonderful lady is Kate Tegtmeier from Wood River, Illinois. Kate runs the Madison County Child Advocacy Center there.

I never know where my next poem will come from. They begin with something some one says or does, in this case both are true! The following poem is for Kate and the staff of the center and for those with "Innocent Eyes"!

"Innocent Eyes"

I hurt for those with innocent eyes,
With hearts still yearnin' for love.
I fear for the lives of the little ones,
The ones who have no defense.

I pray for a hero to come to their aid,
Be it individual or organization.
Some one to fight for their rights and care,
A white hat in the black sea of despair.

Who ever would come to the aid of a child,
Must forever be seen as fearless.
For a child in it's guiltlessness our future holds,
No less than their future we fashion.

A gift from above is the life of a child,
Given to us to mold and to shape.
A vision of truth and a shroud of protection,
Is deserved by each one that draws breath.

With a heart full of love and eyes wide open,
One must see the child not so blessed.
And one must come to the aid of the many so seen,
With Compassion, Justice, and love.

The future they hold in tiny trembling hands,
Within their lives we see our tomorrow.
For in a tomorrow where would mankind be,
With out those with innocent eyes?
