Fiasco In Orlando
By: Mysterygirl
Lucy walked into the ER trying to get away from the artic wind outside. She
went into the lounge to put away her coat and bag. There she saw Carter drinking some coffee.
“Oh lookie who arrived on time,” he said in childish voice.
“Shut up and drink your coffee,” said Lucy as she gave him a stare, “I hope he
burns his tongue too,” she muttered under her breath.
Carter and Lucy have never gotten along. Ever since her med school days he has has been harsh with her and after she graduated she started dissing him. Now they were always in war of words. Just then Kerry popped her head through the lounge door.
“Lucy and Carter, could I see you both in my office now?” They both followed Kerry into her office, where Kerry motioned for them to sit on the chairs.
“Now what I am about to say could be looked upon two point of views: good or bad considering what way you look at it, and I hope you both look at it through a positive point of view. You both have to go to a conference in New Orleans tommorow, which will last for 2 days, and before I hear your buts, I’ll have you both know that it’s my final desicion. There is no trying to get out of it. Plus it will give you both time to get to know each other better and maybe, just maybe even learn to be civil towards each other.”
“There is no positive point to this,” thought Lucy.
“Great, this is going to be worse than working a 24 hour shift at ER, at least
then I don’t always have to run into her!” thought Carter
“You both will be flying there 8 am sharp and here are your tickets.”
They both groaned as they took their tickets.
“I suggest both of you take the rest of your day off and do some packing.”
Next morning Lucy went to the airport 20 minutes earlier so she could arrange
for her to not be seated with Carter. She was wearing khaki capris with a hooded sky blue cashmere sweater. She got her seat, and of course, Carter came right behind her to confirm his seat number which had to be next her. He was wearing a navy blue sweater with slightly faded jeans. They both boarded the plane and spent the flight with minimal conversation. Once they reached Orlando, Carter rented a car. About half an hour later he pulled into an antique mansion.
“This isn’t the hotel is it?” asked Lucy.
“Nope”
“Then why are we here”
“Cause I was driving”
“Seriously”
“It’s my great uncle’s who passed away 2 years ago and left it to my family. I
thought, might as well make use of it.”
“Thanks for letting me in on all of this,” said Lucy sarcastically.
Carter unlocked the big wooden door and they went inside.
“This place looks creepy”
“Don’t tell me Lucy, who has a mouth bigger than her is scared of a mansion
like this”
“I never said I was scared, I was just simply noting that it looks creepy, like
one of those houses in horror movies.”
Carter led her upstairs and showed her her room and then went into his, which
was right next door.
Lucy changed into silky maroon pajama pants and lacy tank top. Then she grabbed
a stool and tried putting a luggage bag on a top shelf out of her way. She was
too short to do that so she started yelling for Carter to come in here.
“What?”
“Help me put this up here”
“Nah”
“What!”
“Fine, I will, get off the stool”
Lucy tried getting off but the stool rocked back and she fell onto Carter which
made them both fall back on the bed.
“Whoa, never would have guessed you were so aggressive in bed”
“Save it Carter, and get off of me”
“Hey you were the one that so called “accidently” fell on me,” said Carter as
he looked at her under him breathing a bit harder than usual because of the fall and her tank top, well not covering all of her up, and for a second there he thought how about how beautiful she was. Then he quickly erased that thought out of his mind and got up.
“The chef says dinner will be ready by 7."
“There’s a chef here?”
“Well, duh, he’s actually the caretaker with multiple qualities,”and he left
the room.
“Never knew he was such a horny guy,” thought Lucy as she rolled her eyes.
