Scene Opens:

Lucy’s apartment we see Carter and Lucy lying in bed Carter’s arms wrapped around her body. Carter is still asleep, but Lucy is not.

Lucy: (Saying to herself) it wasn't a cold night after all.

Lucy slips out of bed as so not to wake Carter. 15mins lapse and Lucy is in the kitchen cooking breakfast. Carter Enters

Carter: My shirt looks better on you.

Lucy: Good morning ... How did you sleep? (Saying with a smile)

Carter: Wonderful...(He leads in to give her a kiss)

Lucy: I hope you’re hungry.... I have eggs, bacon, toast and good old OJ.

Carter: YES... But you don’t have to cook.

Lucy: I don’t mind really I like cooking for you. With work and school I every really get the chance to do this. So when I can I do.

Carter: Ok then, At least let me set the table. (Looking around for her table) where is the table.

Lucy: Don’t have one yet. I never have company so I never got a table. I usually eat in the living room on the coffee table.

Carter: Then I guess I’ll set that.

They sit down to eat it’s quite for a bit.

Carter: So Lucy what should we do now?

Lucy: (Unsure what he meant by that) Do about what?

Carter: Now that we know how we feel about each other. How should we handle this?

Lucy: I don’t know you’re the doctor I'm just a student. (She smiles)

Carter: Lucy I’m serious we both could get in a lot of trouble.

Lucy: (Very upset) What are you saying your sorry we made love, because if you are that cool with me. Maybe we should just forget....

Carter: (Interrupts before she could finish) That's not what I’m saying I meant everything I said and everything we did last night. I would change that for nothing. I love you Lucy. I simply meant now that we are together we need to handle this carefully until you become a doctor.

Lucy: I’m sorry John.... I never gave much of a thought to the morning after. I was still thinking of last night. What do you think I won’t be able to control myself around you at work, because I’ll be fine?

Carter: It’s not you I’m worried about controlling yourself at work.

Lucy: Well we could just go on doing everything we always did and you can keep being mean to me.

Carter: I’m not mean to you ...Maybe just a little hard on you but that's only because I know you can do it.

Lucy: I was just kidding with you.... You know trying to get under your skin.

Carter grabs Lucy and beings tickling her They fall to the floor and begin to kiss.

Scene Two:

We see Carter walking into the ER with a big smile on his face.

Carol: Good morning Carter. Looks like you had a great night.

Carter: Yes Carol I did.

Carol: So who was the lucky girl?

Carter: No one you know.

Carol: Come on Carter it was that girl in X-ray.

Carter: No Carol she does work here.

Carol: Ok Carter whatever you say.... But I have never seen a man who had a smile like that and kept it a secret for very long. (Walking out the door)

End Scene Two:

Scene Three:

We see Carter, Malucci and Abby working on a girl who was brought in for headaches.

Malucci: Can you tell me your name?

Abby: BP 100 over 50. Pulse 80

Patient: Mary

Carter: I need chem. 7, CBC and call for a CT. Mary do you know where you are?

Mary: The hospital... What’s wrong with me?

Carter: That’s what we are going to find out Mary just take it easy.

Randi walks in.

Randi: There bring in a 65yr old woman complaining of chest pains.

Carter: Malucci can you get that we got things under control here.

Malucci leaves.

Carter: Call me when she gets back from CT.

Abby: OK. I’ll go with her and let you know when we get back.

End Scene Three:

Scene Four:

Time laps and Carter is just about to leave when Mark calls him into the lounge.

Carter: What’s up?

Mark: You where here last night right.

Carter: Yes until about 12am. Why?

Mark: There was a problem last night.

Carter: What kind of problem?

Mark: Did you see a patient by the name of Baker?

Carter: Baker (Knowing that was Lucy’s patient)

Mark: Actually Lucy saw him. He came in complaining of chest pains and shortness of breath.

Carter: Yes she order x-rays for him and show them to me we both agreed that we saw a spot on this lungs. What happened?

Mark: Well he came back in around 3am with the same complains. He was having a massive MI and died shortly after getting here.

Carter: I know Lucy did everything she should have.

Mark: Well I have gone over the chart and everything looks fine. She followed all the necessary procedures. I have no reason to think she made any mistakes, but his family is asking questions. I just wanted to make you aware of this.

Carter: Thanks for letting me know. Did you say anything to Lucy?

Mark: She is your student I felt it would be better if you let her you know.

Carter: Yes I’ll tell her.

Mark: When you tell her just let her know it just a review no one is saying she made any mistakes.

Carter: If anything is found I’m Lucy supervisor I will take full blame.

Mark: Lets not start blaming anyone we don’t know anything. Anyways it’s not that easy. If it was a mistake she will get kick out of Medical school and you will also be in serious trouble.

Carter: Ok Mark I’ll let Lucy Know... If that’s all I was on my way home.

Mark: That’s all.... I’ll let you know how things go.

Carter leaves thinking about what just happen. He gets on the train and goes to Lucy’s.

End Scene Four:

Carter standing outside Lucy’s apartment trying to figure out how he is going to tell her about Mr. Baker.

Final Scene:

Carter: (knocking on her door) Lucy it’s John.

Lucy: Hey how was your day? (She gives him a kiss)

Carter: It was ok. I hope you don’t mind that I came over.

Lucy: No I was hoping you would I miss you today.

Carter: I missed you too.

Lucy: John I have been thinking about this all day and I know what we can do. Well you and I can see each other as much as we want here so if you like you could move in if you want. So by time I finish school and become a doctor we can tell everyone. John are you hearing me. Oh god that was too fast I shouldn’t have said anything.

Carter: No Lucy it’s not what you said I’m sorry.

Lucy: Ok sit down tell me what's wrong. Something happen at work?

Carter: Mark called me into the lounge to talk about a patient.

Lucy: Did you lose someone?

Carter: No it was about Mr. Baker.

Lucy: My patient. (Looking worried)

Carter: Yes... He came back in last night with chest pains and died.

Lucy: (With tears in her eyes) I missed something great I killed him.

Carter: No you didn’t. Mark looked over the chart and everything was fine by him.

Lucy: I must have missed something.

Carter: Mark just wanted to let us know what was going on. You did fine they will review the chart and see that you did fine so don’t worry anymore.

Lucy: (Still unsure of herself) I guess your right but it doesn’t make it any easier.

Carter: It never does, but we will get through this together. (Pulling Lucy closer to him)

They sit on the couch Carter holding Lucy close and letting her know it will be okay. They fall asleep there on the couch. Lucy’s head on his shoulder.
