Scene Opens:

Lucy and Carter are driving to the hospital. It’s 5:30 in the morning and neither of them got much sleep.

Carter: Ok the surgery should take about 2 hours and I’ll be right there with you.

Lucy: I know John that’s what keeps me from getting too scared. That you will be here with you.

They enter the hospital and the doctor is there.

Lucy: Good morning Dr. Bellen.

Dr. Bellen: Good morning Lucy. There was some complications with Megan last night she got sick. We got her stable , but you wont be seeing her before surgery.

Lucy: Ok, but everything is okay with her.

Dr. Bellen: Yes everything is okay. The nurse will get you set up and I’ll be back to get you in a few.

Lucy: Thank you Dr.

Carter: Lucy I’ll be right back I need to talk to Dr. Bellen for a sec.

Lucy: Ok John . (Giving him a kiss)

A few minutes later Carter goes to be with Lucy.

Lucy: John, what are you doing in scrubs?

Carter: I talked to Dr. Bellen and I’m going to be in the surgery room with you.

Lucy: You Are?

Carter: Being a doctor does have it’s advantages . Anyway, did you think I wouldn’t have been in there with you?

Lucy: Now I feel a lot better knowing you will be in there with me.

Carter: I wouldn’t have it any other way.

The nurse comes in to get Lucy ready to go to surgery.

End Scene One:

About 30mins pass and Dr. Bellen comes in to take Lucy to surgery.

Scene Two:

Dr. Belllen: Ok Miss. Knight are you ready?

Lucy: Has ready as I'll every be.

They Wheel her down the hall.

Lucy: John

Carter: I’m right here Luce.

Lucy: Ok I just wanted to make sure you where still here.

Carter: I’m not going anywhere.

Entering the room

Dr. Bellen: Ok Lucy we’re going to give you something to make you sleepy.

Lucy: (Feeling Sleepy) John !

Carter: (Taking her by the hand) I’m right in here sweetie.

Lucy: I love you

Carter: I love you too.

Lucy falls asleep and they begin surgery.

Carter is standing next to Lucy just as he promise her he would. Some time has laps and the bone marrow has been removed. Surgery is almost done.

Nurse: Her vitals are dropping. 70/50.

Carter: What's Happening.

Dr. Bellen. She is having a reaction to the anesthesia.

Carter: (Talking to Lucy) Lucy hang in there. Lucy please don’t leave me. I love you.

Dr. Bellen: Lets close and get the hell out of her before we lose her.

Carter: (Crying) YOU are not going to lose her. Lucy don’t do this come back.

They work on Lucy for sometime. They get her vitals up. Things look good for now.

End Scene Two:

Carter is back in Lucy’s room waiting for her to wake up. Dr. Bellen walks in to talk with Carter.

Scene Three:

Dr. Bellen: Dr. Carter I just wanted to let you know what’s going on.

Carter: I’m a doctor I know what’s going on.

Dr. Bellen: She had a reaction to the anesthesia which may her vitals drop.

Carter: Yes I know that the reaction was bad and now she is in a coma.

Dr. Bellen: Yes , but it looks like she will be ok, she just needs the medicine take affect.

Carter: I understand.

Dr. Bellen: Just keep talking to her. It will help. I can’t grantee she’ll wake up.

Carter: She will wake up. I’m going to stay here with her.

Cr. Bellen: Of course I understand. I’ll leave you alone with her and be back in a few to check on her.

Carter: Thank you.

End Scene Three:

Dr. Bellen leaves and Carter sits next to Lucy and holding her hand her talks to her.

Scene Four:

Carter is still talking to Lucy.

Carter: Lucy I need you to wake up. Come on sweetie I’m not leaving without you. So you see you need to wake up. You know you are not going to leave me to deal with Mark and Weaver alone. So you need to wake up. ( Staring to cry ) Lucy I love you. What would I do without you? You’ve got to open your eyes. I have so many plans for us. You are going to be a doctor. We are going to get marry and have kids. Plese open your eyes for me.

Just then to door opens. And much to Carter’s surprise he can’t believe who is standing there.

Jack: How is she?

Carter: You have no right here get out.

Jack: She is my daughter.

Carter: (Pushing him in the hall) No she is not. A daughter is someone you take care of someone that you are there for when she needs her father. You were never there for Lucy. So you have no rights.

Jack: I know I wasn’t there for you but, I’m here now.

Carter: She did what you asked of now she could die for saving Megan. She was there to save Megan and now I’ll be there to save her, not you . Now if you don’t mind I need to get back to Lucy.

Jack: I’m sorry you feel that way. I leave you alone.

Jack leaves and Carter goes back to be with Lucy.

End Scene Four:

While Carter has been talking to Lucy he realizes he should call Mark.

Final Scene:

Carter: Randi it’s Carter I need to talk to Mark.

Randi: Hold on I’ll get him.

A few minutes later Mark comes on the line.

Mark: Carter what’s up?

Carter: There was a problem with Lucy. She had a reaction to the anesthesia and now she is in a coma.

Mark: Oh God , How is she doing?

Carter: Her vitals are good and everything else looks to be good. She just hasn’t woke up yet.

Mark: I’m sure everything will be fine. Just take care of her and don’t worry about anything here I’ll take care of things here.

Carter: Thank you Mark.

Carter hangs up with Mark and goes back to Lucy’s side and begins to talk to her again.

Carter: Lucy I’m here waiting for you to wake up. I love you so much. Mark said hello and wake up they need you back to work. They are not the only ones who need you. I need you Lucy. So you see you need to wake up.

Carter sitting by her side eventually he begins to fall asleep next to her. With his head down on the bed and still holding her hand. He gives her a kiss and falls asleep.
