Scene Opens:

Carter and Lucy are on a plane making their way to Michigan. Carter is having a Brandy and Lucy fell asleep during flight.

Carter: Luce we’re almost there. (rubbing her forehead)

Lucy: What time is it?

Carter: 10:30pm

Lucy: That was fast.

Carter: Well it was only a 1 hour flight.

Lucy: I know I guess I was hoping for more time to prepare.

Carter: Well we don’t have to be at the hospital until 8am. So we do have some time before you go.

Lucy: Yeah that’s right.

Carter: When we get off I’ll go rent a car and if you don’t mind can you check the bags in.

Lucy: Ok sounds good .

Flight Attendant: We will be arriving in Michigan. Please stay seated and fasten your seat belts for landing.

Carter and Lucy get off the plane. Carter goes to get them a car and Lucy goes to get the bags checked in.

Carter: Sweetie I got us a car lets get the bags and make our way to the hotel.

Lucy: Ok Sounds good.

Carter: Are you ok Lucy?

Lucy: Yes. Why you ask?

Carter: You haven’t said more then three words the whole trip.

Lucy: I know I just have a lot on my mind please forgive me.

Carter: Luce there is nothing to forgive you for. This is a lot for anyone to take in.

Lucy: John if I say anything or do anything during this trip to hurt you in any way please don’t take it to heart and don’t get mad at me.

Carter: (Taking Lucy’s hand) Never Lucy you could never say anything to upset me or make me mad at you during this trip. I know you have a lot to deal with just remember I love you.

Lucy: I love you too John.

End Scene One:

They pull up to the hotel and Carter grabs the bag to go check in.

Scene Two:

Desk Clerk: Welcome to the Hilton. May I help you?

Carter: Yes I have a reservation for two. John Carter

Desk Clerk: Yes Dr. Carter we have you in Suite 409.

Carter: Thank you. Is your restaurant still open?

Desk Clerk: Yes until midnight.

Carter: (Looking at Lucy) Do you want to get a bite to eat?

Lucy: Sure I can eat something.

Carter: Ok . (Talking to the desk clerk) Could you have someone take our bags up while we get something to eat.

Desk Clerk: Yes Dr. Carter I’ll make sure that gets done for you.

Carter: Thank you.

They make their way to the restaurant.

End Scene Two:

Carter and Lucy are sitting at very nice table with soft light and soft music playing.

Scene Three:

Lucy: The Hilton, a suite, soft music and a beautiful restaurant. Carter this is a lot of money.

Carter: Don’t worry only the best for you Lucy. So what would you like to eat?

Lucy: (Looking at the menu) O my these prices are outrageous John.

Carter: Would you just stop worrying about the money I'm taking care of it.

Lucy: Okay I think I’ll have the Chicken Kiev.

Carter: I think I'll get that also. So two chickens.

The waiter walks over to the table to take their order.

Waiter: Hello My name is Steven I’ll be your waiter tonight. Are you ready to order?

Carter: Yes Steven we would like two Chicken Kiev and two glasses of white wine.

Lucy: I’ll just have a soda , My blood test is in the morning.

Carter: That’s right sorry make that two sodas.

Waiter: Would you like the soup it’s cream of Mushroom?

Lucy: Yes please

Carter: No thank you.

Waiter: I’ll bring your drinks and your soup and be right back.

Carter: Ok thank you.

Time laps and Lucy is just finishing up her soup when the waiter brings their dinner.

Lucy: Looks good

Carter: Yes it does. I’m starving.

Waiter: If that is all .

Carter: Yes Thank you.

As they are eating they hear a commotion coming from the back of the restaurant.

Man’s Voice: Help my wife is in labor.

Carter and Lucy look at each other and jump out of their seats.

End Scene Three:

Carter and Lucy make their way to the man .

Scene Four:

Carter: Sir I’m a doctor.

Man: Thank god my wife’s water broke and I don’t know what to do.

Lucy: Her vitals are normal.

Man: Who is she?

Carter: She is with me she is a doctor also.

Carter: Sir what is your name?

Man: Mike

Carter: Ok Mike I need you to relax and go call for an ambulance.

Lucy: (Looking at the lady) What is your name?

Lady: Rita

Carter: Rita how far along are you?

Rita: 32 weeks.

Carter: Ok that’s good. Is this your first child?

Rita: Yes. ahhhhhhhhhhhh

Lucy: Are you having a contraction?

Rita: Yesssss

Carter: Lucy she is ready to go. I need you to try to find some way to get her some privacy.

Lucy: (Looking around) Ok you , you and you ( saying to some men in near by tables) take these table clothe and hold them up around us.

Mike: Ok I called they said about 15mins.

Carter: She doesn’t have that long. Lucy I need you.

Lucy: Ok what do you need ?

Carter: I’ve got to deliver her now. Just keep an eye on her vitals.

Lucy: Ok .

Carter: Mike you need to help your wife ok .

Rita: It’s coming I need to push.

Carter: Ok Rita push.

Rita: Ahhhhhhhhhh

Lucy: Carter her pause is racing.

Carter: Ok Rita I need you to look at me. I need you to relax and take a deep breath (Counting with Rita) 1heeee 2heeee 3heee.

Rita: 1heeee 2heeee 3heeee .

Lucy: It’s working.

Carter: Good Luce I need a blanket.

Lucy: I got it (Handing it to Carter)

Carter: Ok Rita this is it I need one big push.

Rita: Ok Ahhhhhhhhhhh

Lucy: ( helping Mike hold Rita) 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 ( They hear a baby’s cries)

Carter: Rita , Mike it’s a girl.

Rita: (Crying) Is she ok?

Lucy: She looks prefect.

Carter: Yes she is good . Want to hold her?

Rita: Yes please.

Carter: (Handing them the baby) Congratulations Mom and Dad.

Rita and Mike: Thank you Dr. Carter both of you.

Carter: You are very welcome.

Rita and Mike talk quietly to each other.

Carter: Have you got a name?

Rita: Mike and I were just talking and since you both where here and it was a good thing you were. We want to name her Lucy Joanna - Carter Napier.

Carter: Thank you , but you did all the work.

Lucy: Thank you.

The paramedics arrive and take the new parents and baby to the Hospital. As Lucy and Carter stand there the people applaud them.

Carter: Well I’ll go pay the bill and we can go to the room.

Lucy: Ok

Carter: Steven can I get our bill?

Waiter: No need the bill is on us for a job well done.

Carter: Thank you

Lucy: Did you pay the bill?

Carter: No it was on the Hotel.

Lucy: That was nice of them.

They make their way to the room.

End Scene Four:

They make it to the room it’s late and they have a big day ahead of them tomorrow.

Final Scene:

Carter: You did a really good down there.

Lucy: You didn’t do too bad yourself Dr. Carter.

Carter: That’s because I had you by my side. I always do good with you by my side.

Lucy: (Hugging Carter) I feel the same about you.

Carter: Well I’m going to take a shower before bed.

Lucy: Ok I want to call the hospital to see how Megan is doing.

Carter: Ok

Carter goes to take his shower and Lucy calls to check on Megan.

Lucy: Yes I was calling to see how Megan Johnson is doing?

Nurse: Who is this?

Lucy: Lucy Knight her sister.

Nurse: Yes hold on please.

Man’s Voice: Lucy

Lucy: ( Surprised by the voice)

Man’s Voice: Lucy are you there?

Lucy: Yes sorry I was just calling to see how Megan is doing? (Realizing that is was her father)

Jack: Megan is about the same. How are you ? Was your trip ok?

Lucy: Well I’m in town now and I’ll be in the morning for the test.

Jack: Thank you for helping. I’m sorry about the way all this has come about.

Lucy: Ok well I need to go now. Bye.

Lucy hangs up and starts to cry. Sitting there on the edge of the bed. She wipes her tears and stops feeling sorry for herself. She hears Carter in the shower singing and begins to laugh. Lucy gets up and makes her way into the bathroom to join Carter.

Carter: ( Startled ) Hey there

Lucy: Are you taking requests?

Carter: Very funny.... Sure what would you like to hear?

Lucy: I don’t know

Carter: Fine I got one. (Beginning to sing)

Carter: Well Gammie was a big Elvis fan. She use to sing that song to me every night before bed. So don’t you go around telling everyone my secret.

Lucy: I won’t , because I may need to use that to get my way next time.

Carter: Great you going to hold this over my head.

Lucy: No I’m going to hold it. (Smiling)

Carter: Would you like me to wash your back?

Lucy: I thought you would never ask.

Carter starts washing her back and then he kisses her shoulder. Lucy turns around and kisses Carter.
