Scene opens:

We see Lucy walking into the ER. She looks like she is unsure if she should even have came in.

Jerry: How are you this wonderful morning?

Lucy: If that is what you call this morning.

Jerry: Bad night.

Lucy: Night was fine I got some news that I really didn't want to hear.

Jerry: Damn the person that gave you bad news... You want me to hang them up by their toenails.

Lucy: No. Jerry they didn’t want to give me the news it’s not their fault.

Jerry: Ok just let me know if you want me to take anyone out.

Lucy: Jerry if I need someone taken out you will be the first to know.

She walks into the lounge to work on some charts and runs into Mark.

End Scene

Scene Two:

Lucy: Good Morning Dr. Greene

Mark: Morning Lucy how is things?

Lucy: Ok I guess. Have you hear anything on Mr. Baker?

Mark: No nothing yet.... I’ll keep you informed on any news.

Lucy: Thank you Dr. Greene... I’m sure I did everything I should have.

Mark: I’m sure you did as I told Carter I looked the chart over and everything looked in place and by the book. I wouldn’t worry about it. (As he walks out the door)

Lucy: (Saying to herself) Easy for you to say.

Time laps and Lucy is still in the lounge working on charts. She fell asleep on the charts. Carter enters.

Carter: Lucy (Saying quietly)

Carter: Lucy (Putting his hand on her shoulder)

Lucy: (Still half-asleep) I’m sorry I didn’t mean for him to die.

Carter: Lucy it’s me Carter

Lucy: (Realizing what she said) I’m sorry Carter. I was dreaming

Carter: That’s ok ... But are you ok?

Lucy: I just couldn't sleep last night and I guess it finally caught up with me.

Carter: I told you not to worry about what happen to Mr. Baker.

Lucy: That’s what everyone keeps telling me, but the facts are I took care of a man and sent him home later he comes by with the same problems and died. In my book that means I killed him.

Carter: Hun, now you are being too hard on yourself.

Lucy: You better be careful what you call me someone might hear you.

Carter: At this particular time I don’t care who hears me.

Lucy: I’m so lost I’m sorry about that I’m just very tired.

Carter: Look I know you didn’t get much sleep last night (Saying with a smile) Why don’t you go home and I’ll cover for you. When I get off I’ll bring dinner.

Lucy: (Upset with Carter) What you don’t think I’m capable of doing my job. Well your wrong I’m fine and as far as dinner goes maybe I should just eat dinner alone tonight. (Rushing out the door)

End Scene Two:

Lucy has been seeing patients all day trying to forget about what happen with Carter early.

Scene Three:

Carol: Lucy do you feel ok. You look like you upset about something.

Lucy: I have something on my mind, but I just don’t know who to talk to.

Carol: Well I’m here if you want to talk.

Lucy: Thanks but I’ll be alright.

Carol: Ok then I’ll let you know when phys. comes down.

Lucy: Thanks Carol (Lucy exits room)

Lucy leaves stopping to think maybe Carol is the one she should talk to.

Lucy: Carol if you don’t mind when you get a chance could I talk to you.

Carol: I get off at 3pm if you want to talk then.

Lucy: Not here, is Doc Magoo’s ok with you.

Carol: Sure

Lucy leaves to go check on some more patients.

End Scene Three:

Mark is looking for Lucy to let her know what is going on.

Scene Four:

Mark: Has anyone seen Lucy?

Carol: She is in exam room 3 waiting for phsy.

Mark: Thanks Carol

Mark goes to find Lucy. He gets to exam room 3 looking through the

glass motions her to come out.

Lucy: (Exiting the room) What is it Dr. Greene?

Mark: How is everything going today for you?

Lucy: Good, I’m just waiting for phsy to come down to talk to Miss. White. She thinks she's Dorothy Gale.

Mark: Oh Ok.... I just got done talking with Romano (Mark pauses Carter is walking down the hall.) Carter got a sec.

Carter: (Still upset with Lucy for what she had said) Yes is everything ok.

Mark: As I was about to tell Lucy I talked to Romano and everything with Mr. Baker is fine. Lucy he looked over the chart and everything was fine. The chest pains from the first time had nothing to do with his heart attack from later that night.

Lucy: Are you sure?

Mark: Yes... Case close the family has stopped all legal actions.

Carter: (Looking at Lucy) That's great news.

Lucy: ( Not even looking at Carter) Thank you Dr. Greene I’m just glad everything turned out for the best.

Carter excuses himself realizing Lucy is still upset with him.

Lucy: Dr. Greene I hate to ask you this, but if it’s ok with you when I’m done here could I go home. I really didn’t get much sleep worrying about everything and I still need to study for my exam.

Mark: I don’t see why not just make sure you let Luka know you are leaving. I’m off now. See you tomorrow.

Lucy: Thanks.

Lucy goes to finish up with Miss. White.

End Scene Four:

It’s time for Carol to go home and she looks for Lucy to see if she still wants to talk.

Scene Five:

Carol: Lucy did you still want to talk?

Lucy: Yes.. I’m just finishing up with this patient could I meet you a Doc Magoo’s?

Carol: Sure( She leaves to go to Doc Magoo’s)

A few minutes past and Lucy is letting Luka know she leaving for the day and letting him know about any patients that are still there. She signs her last chart and makes her way over to meet Carol.

Carol: Lucy over here.

Lucy: Thanks for meeting me.

Carol: Don’t mention it, So what's up?

Lucy: Well I had a problem with a patient from last night, but that’s all ok now.

Carol: Well that’s good, but that’s not really why you wanted to talk to me.?

Lucy: No it wasn’t .....I know we are not the best of friends ,but I really don’t know who else to talk to.

Carol: Well Lucy I’m here so we can talk about whatever it is that’s is on your mind.

Lucy: (Just blunting it out) I slept with Carter.

Carol: Well it’s about time.

Lucy: Why would you say that?

Carol: It’s obvious how you and Carter feel for one another. So that explains the smile on Carter’s face this morning.

Lucy: If it is that easy for you to see how we feel then what if everyone else see it.

Carol: If you and him keep acting the way you did today no one will every know the difference.

Lucy: I was so bad, Carter and I got into it early today and I honestly don’t think he will forgive me.

Carol: Look Doug and I always had our fights and disagreements , but it has always been Doug for me and we always got through it. Just like you and Carter will get through this.

Lucy: I hope so, because I truly do love him.

Carol: Just think of it this way the making up is the best part.

Lucy: Would you give Carter a message for me?

Carol: Sure what is it?

Lucy: Could you tell him to go ahead and bring dinner home tonight.

Carol: Got it I’ll let him know.

Lucy: Thanks Carol this really means a lot to me you listening to me and all.

Lucy gives Carol a friendly hug and leaves to go home.

End Scene Five:

Meanwhile Carol walks back over to the ER to fine Carter.

Scene Six:

Luka: Carol I thought we got rid of you already.

Carol: You did, I need to tell Carter something I forgot before. As anyone seen him.

Jerry: He is in the lounge

Carol: (Making her way to the lounge)Thanks Jerry (Entering the lounge) Hey Carter your smile is gone.

Carter: Well it’s been a long day and I’m ready to go home.

Carol: You have any plans for dinner?

Carter: I thought I did, but I guess I was wrong.

Carol: I talked to Lucy tonight.

Carter: What does that have to do with me?

Carol: Well she wanted me to let you know you can bring dinner home tonight.

Carter: WHAT? I have no idea what you are talking about.

Carol: I know about you and Lucy. I think it’s cute.

Carter: She told you.

Carol: Yes... But I had some idea about you two already. So go get some dinner take it home to Lucy and have a wonderful night. (As she walks out the door) Don’t worry Carter your secret is safe with me.

Carter: Thanks Carol.

Carter leaves to go pick up some dinner for Lucy and him. He is still upset with what happen between them earlier that day, but he loves her and he can forgive her.

End Scene Six:

Carter arrives at the apartment he knocks on the door.

Final Scene:

Carter: It’s me Lucy

Lucy: Come in it’s open.

Carter walks in and sees Lucy across the room she standing there with just one of his shirts on. Candles are lit through out the apartment and soft music is playing. Carter stares at Lucy speechless.

Lucy: I'm so sorry about the way I acted today. I hope you can forgive me.

Carter: I was prepared to be mad at you until I open this door now I stand here looking at your beautiful face and I can’t be mad.

Lucy: Well I tried to find a way to say I’m sorry.

Carter: Well it worked.

Lucy: (Smiling) Good. Now what for dinner?

Carter: I hope you like pasta.

Lucy: I love pasta. Just about as much as I love you.

Carter: (Giving Lucy a kiss) I hear you talked to Carol today.

Lucy: Are you mad at me for talking to her?

Carter: No, Carol wont say anything.

Lucy: Okay then lets eat.

They sit down on the blanket Lucy laid out on the floor.

Lucy: I have something for you.(Handing him a small box)

Carter: It’s not my birthday(opening the box) It’s a key?

Lucy: It's the key to my heart well actually my apartment. If you thinks it too fast I understand. But I love you so much I can’t bare going to bed without you and I can’t bare waking up and not seeing you in the morning.

Carter: I feel the same way I want to wake up with you in my arms.

Lucy: You can come over anytime you want. I’m hoping you wont leave.

Carter: You may get tired of me.

Lucy: No John I wont (They start to kiss)

Carter: Dinner is going to get cold.

Lucy: I have a microwave.

Carter picks Lucy up in his arms and carries her to the bedroom. They Kiss and embrace they look into each others eyes and begin to make love.........
