This is my first time writing so please be gentle with me.

SCENE OPENS

Lucy is in the staff lounge drinking some hot chocolate looking out the window watching the snow fall.

Lucy: (Talking to herself) I guess it will be another cold night alone.

Mark enters the room Lucy is unaware he has walked in.

Mark: Hey Lucy.

Lucy said nothing.

Mark: A penny for your thoughts.

Lucy: uh... Sorry Dr. Greene.

Mark: No problem ... Is everything okay?

Lucy: Yes... Why you ask?

Mark: Well you looked a million miles away.

Lucy: No. I was just watching the snow. I just love to see it snow.

Mark: I hate the snow. No one knows how to drive in it.

Lucy: (Smiling at Mark�s joke) Are you on tonight Dr. Greene?

Mark: Yes until 7am. You?

Lucy: Yes I�m here until 12am. Maybe it will be a slow night with the snow and all.

Mark: If we are lucky.... It seems like the worst weather brings out the worst in people.

Just then Jerry enters the room.

Jerry: Dr. Greene GSW to the chest is on the way in.

Mark: ETA

Jerry: 5 mins

Mark: Well Lucy I guess are luck just ran out.

After sometime laps you see Mark and Lucy talking about the good save they had with the GSW.

Mark: You did very well in there Lucy.

Lucy: Thanks Dr. Greene that was a great save.

End Scene:

Scene Two:

Carter walks into the ER brushing snow off this coat.

Jerry: Hey Carter cold out there?

Carter: Yes Jerry... They say about 5 to 6ins by morning.

Jerry: Well I guess I won�t need this tonight (holding up a bathing suit a patient left early)

Carter: Ok Jerry ... Have you seen Lucy?

Jerry: Exam room 3

Carter: (while walking away) Thanks Jerry.

Carter enter exam room 3 and we hear Lucy talking to a patient.

Lucy: Ok Mr. Barker I�m going to check on your x-rays and I�ll be back in a few to see how you are feeling?

Mr. Barker: Thank you Doctor.

Carter: Lucy do you have a min?

They exit exam room 3, talking while walking down the hall.

Carter: How is everything going for you tonight?

Lucy: OK..... I helped Dr. Greene with a GSW, I just sent a Miss. Page to X-ray and Mr. Barker came in complaining of chest pains and shortness of breathe.

Carter: OK... Sounds like you have everything under-control. I have some charts to work on just let me know if you need anything.

Lucy: I�ll do that.

Carter: Is everything ok Lucy?

Lucy: Yes I just told you.

Carter: No...... With you Lucy?

Lucy: I just got a lot on my mind that�s all.

They just stand there for a few mins and stare at each other.

Lucy: If that�s all I need to go check on Mr. Barker�s X-rays.

Carter: Yes

As Lucy walks away Carter watches her and wonders if something more is going on with Lucy.

End Scene Two:

Scene Three:

It�s 11pm and County General has been slow for once. We see Lucy at the Admin desk looking for Carter.

Lucy: Jerry has you seen Carter?

Jerry: Last time I seen him he was in the lounge.

Lucy: Thanks

Lucy: (entering the lounge) Carter I need to show you something.

Carter: What is it?

Lucy: (pulling the x-rays out) These are Mr. Barker�s X-rays and I seen something on it.

Carter: (taking the x-rays from Lucy) Oh man it�s a spot on his Lungs.

Lucy: That�s what I thought. I just wanted to make sure with you first.

Carter: Is he a smoker?

Lucy: No....

Carter: I hate telling the ones who did nothing to deserve this.

Lucy: That�s okay .....I�ll tell him.

Carter: Are you sure?

Lucy: (grabbing the x-rays out of his hands)NO..... I got it. (Walking out the door)

Later Carter sees Lucy and stops To ask how things went with Mr. Barker.

Carter: How did things go with Mr. Barker?

Lucy: Well lets see........ I had to tell him he as Cancer and that he has only 6mons to a year to live. How do you think it went?

Carter: What is with you tonight?

Lucy: Nothing is with me. I'm just ready to go home now.

(Walking away)

End Scene Three:

Scene Four:

Lucy is at her Locker getting ready to leave and Carter enter.

Carter: What the hell is your problem?

Lucy: I told you I have no problem. I�m just ready to go home it�s been a long night and I'm tried.

Carter: Ok fine...... Just wait a min and I�ll take you to the dorm.

Lucy: That�s ok .

Carter: Just wait please!

Lucy: Fine I�ll be at the desk dropping off this chart.

Carter: OK.

Lucy leaves to go drop a chart off. While Carter gets ready to take her home.

End Scene Four:

Finally Scene:

You see Carter going to the Admin desk looking for Lucy.

Carter: Jerry did you see Lucy?

Jerry: Yeah she just left.

Carter running out the door.

Carter: (yelling) LUCY! LUCY!

Lucy: WHAT!

Carter: Damn it Lucy what is with you? All I wanted to do was take you home. Why did you leave?

Lucy: I'm a big girl Carter I don�t need you walking me home. Anyways why are you so concern about walking me home.

Carter: It�s late and I was just trying to be nice.

Lucy: Fine ........ Just don�t talk to me. I just don�t feel like talking .

Carter: Fine with me.

They walk up the stairs to The train not saying a word. 20mins pass and still no words.

Lucy: Here is my stop.

Carter: You moved out of the dorm?

Lucy: Yeah I decided to get out and start acting like a grow up.

Carter: Who said you don�t act like a grow up.

Lucy: You!!

Carter: I never said anything like that.

Lucy: You imply it all the time.

Carter: When did I ever say that?

Lucy: Where should I start ...... (In a Carter kind of voice) Lucy you can do it you don�t have to run to me all the time. I don�t need to baby-sit You forever........

Carter: (he interrupts her) If I ever said that I'm sorry.

Lucy: (Standing in front of her apartment door) Well I�m here Thanks for seeing me home.

Carter: Ok well I�ll see you tomorrow.

Lucy: No I�m off tomorrow have an exam to study for.

Carter: Ok Lucy goodnight.

Carter turns to walk away , but forgets something. As Lucy closes the door.

Carter: WAIT Lucy.

Lucy: What now!

Carter: (handing her a gift) Happy Birthday

Lucy: (Shocked) You knew.

Carter: Of course how could I for get.

Lucy: Thank you Carter.

Carter: Are you going to open it?

Lucy: Yes (she opens it and see a gold pin that reads DR. KNIGHT) It�s beautiful thank you, but I�m not a doctor.

Carter: Yet......I know you will be . You are a great student and you will be a great doctor.

Lucy: (with tears in her eyes) That means a lot coming from you John. I thought you didn't care.

Carter: How could I not care? You always care about someone you love.

Lucy: What did you say?

Carter: It�s long over due Lucy....... I love you , I have loved you ever since I lay eyes on you. I just never knew how to say it. I guess I have been afraid to.

(As she's go to speak ... Carter leans closer into Lucy and kisses her.)

Lucy: (Pulling him back she looks into his eyes and tells him) I love you too John.

Carter smiles at Lucy, Carter grab Lucy and pulls her closer to him. They embrace with a kiss and go into the apartment.

(The door Closes behind them- FADE TO BLACK)
