Scene Opens:

Lucy walks out of the room and runs into Gamma.

Gamma: Good Morning Lucy.

Lucy: Hello I was just...

Gamma: Don’t worry Lucy I’m okay with you and John being together. I was young once too.

Lucy: Well I just didn’t want you to get upset with me being here.

Gamma: Upset , you are the only girl that John has been with that I love. You are sweet. My grandson is very lucky to have you.

Lucy: Thank you , but I’m the lucky one. Anyways It great to see you up and around.

Gamma: Well I couldn’t stay in bed forever.

Just then Carter walks out.

Carter: Gamma!!

Gamma: John, Lucy and I was just talking and I was thanking her for staying the night last night.

Carter: You look great Gamma.

Gamma: Thanks.

Carter: Well take it easy you don’t want to rush it.

Gamma: John don’t go doctor on me. I’m fine.

Carter: I know , but I just want you to take care of yourself and don’t push it.

Gamma: I will. Anyways would you too like to join me for breakfast out on the patio.

Lucy: Sure that would be nice.

Gamma: Good then you two get ready and I’ll meet you on the patio.

Carter: We’ll be right there.

Gamma makes her way to the patio. While Lucy and Carter get ready.

Walking out to the patio hand and hand Gamma brings up a question.

Gamma: So now that you too are engaged. When is the wedding date?

Carter: We really haven’t had much time to think about it or even talked about it.

Lucy: Well I have 8 months left of school and would like to finish before we do get marry.

Carter: 8 months I don’t know if I could wait that long.

Gamma: Well you will just have to wait John, anyways it can take that long for me to plan a wedding.

Lucy: What did you say?

Gamma: Well John is my grandson and it’s not everyday he gets marry to a wonderful girl. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I want you to have to best wedding ever. So you plan your wedding anyway you want and I’ll make sure you get it.

Lucy: You don’t have to do that. A small wedding would be fine with me.

Gamma: Lucy big or small whatever you want I’ll take care of it. Concern it my wedding gift.

Carter: Lucy it’s really no use debating with her when she is set on something.

Lucy: Ok then when we know the date we can start planning.

Gamma: Promise me one thing Lucy. No limits whatever you have dreamt about do. Lucy: Ok I promise. Thank you.

Gamma: Good now that that’s lets eat.

They all eat breakfast and talk. Lucy is excited about the wedding now.

End Scene One:

Breakfast is done and Gamma, Carter and Lucy take a walk around the grounds.

Scene Two:

Lucy: The flowers are so beautiful.

Gamma: Thank you. I put a lot of work into.

Lucy: You did all this.

Carter: Gamma takes care of the garden she always has. I remember when I was younger I would always fine her here in the garden working on her plants and flowers.

Gamma: Yes I made have a gardener, but he never touches my plants and flowers.

Lucy: This is so beautiful. ( looking around at the garden )

Carter: Are you ok ?

Lucy: Yes I was just thinking.

Gamma: What’s on your mind Lucy?

Lucy: Well you said I could have the wedding anywhere I wanted.

Gamma: Yes. What are you thinking?

Lucy: Well John you grew up in this house and the garden is so beautiful. What if we got marry here in the garden? That’s if it’s okay with you Millicent.

Gamma: I think that would be wonderful I’m so happy that you would want to have your wedding here. Also just one thing. Since you will be my granddaughter please call me Gamma.

Lucy: Ok Gamma, Thank you.

Carter: Are you really sure about this? You don’t want a church wedding.

Lucy: I’m 100% sure this is where I want to say I do.

Carter: Well Gamma I guess we have a place. Now all we need is a date.

Gamma: Now that may not be as easy to do.

Lucy: Well we still have sometime to work on that.

Carter: ( with a smile ) Well don’t make me wait too long.

Lucy: I’ll try not too.

They walk around the rest of the grounds for the afternoon. Gamma giving Lucy the history of The Carter Estate.

End Scene Two:

Sometime laps and Gamma decides to go take a nap.

Scene Three:

Gamma: Well it’s been really nice spending the day with you, but I’m a bit sleepy. I think I’ll go take a nap.

Carter: Ok I’ll walk you to the house.

Gamma: I know my way back, you and Lucy stay put. I’ll be fine, and I’ll see you both for dinner.

Carter: Ok Gamma ( kissing her on the forehead )

Lucy: You take it easy Gamma. We’ll see you at dinner.

Gamma: I will and thank you for wanting to have the wedding her.

Lucy: No thank you for letting me have it here.

Gamma and Lucy hug and Gamma leaves to take her nap.

Some time laps and Carter and Lucy are sitting on the patio talking.

Lucy: Carter can I ask you something?

Carter: Sure anything.

Lucy: What do you want to marry me?

Carter: ( Shocked that she would ask that ) What? Why would you ask such a question?

Lucy: John you have everything. I mean a beautiful home. A wonderful family and not to mention your loaded. You could have any girl. Any girl would kill to marry you.

Carter: Maybe you are right. I could have any girl, but I don’t want any girl I want you. I would give up everything to be with you.

Lucy: Why?

Carter: Because I love you. You are my world , my reason to wake up everyday and sleep through the night. I could never image one moment without you in my life in my heart.

Lucy: Ok I guess I shouldn’t have asked you such a question, but thank you for the answer.

Carter moves closer to Lucy and takes her by the hand.

Carter: No thank you for being in my life. Thank you for loving me. So don’t you every forget how much I love you, and how much you are my world.

Lucy: I wont John. I love you too.

They embrace and kiss.

End Scene Three:

While they head in to meet Gamma for dinner the doorbell rings.

Final Scene:

Maid: Dr. Carter there is a detective Farris to see you.

Carter: Thank you I’ll be right there.

They head to the den to speak to the detective.

Carter: Detective Farris what can I do for you?

Detective: We have a slight problem.

Carter: What kind of problem?

Detective: The two men that your grandmother identify have deny having anything to do with the robbery.

Carter: Why is that a problem?

Detective: Well since they say they didn’t do it we have to take them to court. Meaning we need to have your grandmother testify against them.

Carter: Is there any other way.

Detective: I’m afraid not. The court date is set for tomorrow.

Lucy: That’s fast.

Detective: Yes, but they don’t want a jury. They want the judge to hear the evidences and make his judgment.

Carter: So what do you need from my grandmother?

Detective: Well we need her in court tomorrow at 9am.

Carter: What will happen if she doesn’t show up?

Just then Gamma interrupts...

Gamma: I’ll be there detective don’t worry.

Carter: Gamma how long have you been there?

Gamma: Long enough to know I need to go and get these guys.

Detective: Thank you very much Mrs. Carter.

Carter: Are you sure Gamma?

Gamma: Yes John, now you can stay here tomorrow or go with me tomorrow.

Carter: Ok detective Farris I guess we will be there in the morning.

Detective: Good thank you both.

Detective Farris leaves and Carter, Gamma and Lucy sits down to eat dinner.

They sit around the table and talk about tomorrow and what will happen. Lucy will have to go to work and Carter and Gamma will go to court.
