Scene Opens:

Carter is asleep by Lucy’s side when a nurse walks in.

The nurse checking Lucy’s IV she goes to check her vitals when she gets a surprise.

Nurse: Hey there nice of you to join us.

Lucy: Shhh I don’t want to wake him. ( Looking down at Carter )

Nurse: You know he has not left your side once all night. I tried to bring him something to eat , but he just wouldn’t take it. He has just been here waiting for you to wake up. He really loves you.

Lucy: I know. Can you do something for me ?

Nurse: Yes what is it?

Lucy: Can you bring some breakfast for him. I’ll be sure he eats when he wakes up.

Nurse: Sure I’ll be back in about 30mins.

Lucy: Thank you.

The nurse leaves to go get some breakfast for Carter and Lucy. Lucy is looking out the window watching the sunrise.

Lucy: ( Watching Carter sleep ) I love you John. ( She gives him a soft kiss on the cheek )

Carter: ( Looking up ) Am I dreaming.

Lucy: No I’m really a wake.

Carter: ( Giving her a hug ) Lucy I’m so happy to hear your voice. You had me so worried.

Lucy: I'm sorry John. I’m not even sure what happen.

Carter: Don’t be sorry I’m just glad you are awake. I thought I was going to lose you.

Lucy: Well you can’t get rid of me that easy.

Carter: Well I’m glad to know that.

Lucy: So anyways what did happen?

Carter: A side from scaring me half to death. You had a reaction to the anesthesia. It caused your blood press to drop and it became to hard to wake you up.

Lucy: Is everything else with me ok? How is Megan?

Carter: Everything with you is ok I’m just concerned about your blood presser dropping. As for Megan everything went find she is recovering fine. Thanks to you.

Lucy: Thank god.

The Nurse enters the room.

Nurse: Here is the breakfast you asked for.

Lucy: Thank you.

Carter: Well I’m glad you got your appetite back.

Lucy: It’s not for me. I heard you have not eaten in a while and so this is for you.

Carter: Ok if this for me I’ll only eat under one condition.

Lucy: What?

Carter: If you share with me. ( Feeding her some fruit )

Lucy: That would be good. (smiling )

Carter and Lucy share a nice breakfast. Carter just watching Lucy happy she is doing great.

End Scene One:

Some time laps and Carter and Lucy are talking about things when the doctor comes in.

Scene Two:

Dr. Bellen: I heard you were awake. I just had to see for myself. How are you feeling?

Lucy: Good. How is Megan doing?

Dr. Bellen: She is doing very good. She still has a lot of recovery time, but she should be back home in about a week.

Lucy: Good I’m glad to heard that.

Dr. Bellen: Megan has been asking to see you and so has your father.

Carter: She is not really to see her father yet.

Lucy: I’m sorry Dr. Bellen, but I just don’t want to see him right now.

Dr.Bellen: I can understand.

Lucy: (Looking at Carter ) I could still go to see Megan.

Dr. Bellen: I'm sure I can manage that. I’ll talk to your father to let him know that you want to go see Megan without seeing him.

Lucy: Thank you I’m just not really to see him right now. I’m just not sure when I’ll be ready .

Dr. Bellen: Sure I’ll be back in a few and let you know what will happen.

Dr. Bellen leaves to go make the arrangements for Lucy to meet her sister Megan.

End Scene Two:

Carter and Lucy are talking about stuff. When Lucy starts in about her father.

Scene Three:

Lucy: John has my father ask about me.

Carter: Lucy he tried to see you a few times, but I knew you didn’t want to see him.

Lucy: I'm glad you have been here for me. I have been thinking that maybe I should talk to him. I’m just not sure.

Carter: That is up to you I’ll be here for you whatever you want to do. You can count on that.

Lucy: I know I just have this feeling that before we go back to Chicago I should see my father.

Carter: It’s up to you. Just let me know what I can do.

Lucy: Thank you John. ( Giving him a Kiss )

Just then Dr. Bellen enters the room.

Dr. Bellen: Lucy everything is set you can go to see Megan at 5pm. Jack wont be around , but her mother will be. If that is ok with you.

Lucy: I guess that will be fine. Thank you Dr.

Dr. Bellen: Ok then I'll send a nurse in to take you up to see her.

Lucy: Ok sounds good to me.

Dr. Bellen leaves and Carter turns to Lucy.

Carter: You think you will be ok for a bit I would like to go back to the hotel and freshen up. I’ll be back before 5pm.

Lucy: That's fine I’m a little sleepy anyways. I’ll take a nap and see you by 5.

Carter: Ok sweetie I’ll be right back.

Carter gives Lucy a kiss, but waits for her to fall asleep. 30mins pass Lucy is asleep and with a gentle kiss Carter leaves.

End Scene Three:

It’s 4pm and Lucy is still asleep. When Carter gets back. He sits in the chair and watches Lucy Sleep.

Scene Four:

Lucy: WOW. You clean up real nice.

Carter: Well thank you my lady.

Lucy: ( smiling ) I bet I look like I’ve been in a coma for a week.

Carter: That’s not funny. Anyways I thought you might like this. ( He set a bag of Lucy’s on the table)

Lucy: Oh my god you are wonderful ( Giving him a kiss and hug ) I can’t believe you did this. ( going though the bag ) My brush, makeup, shampoo and my toothbrush. I love you John.

Carter: If I knew I would get this reaction I would have done it sooner.

Lucy: Too bad you didn’t bring me something to wear, but that's ok this is great.

Carter: ( Pulling up a hang bag) You mean this.

Lucy: ( Shocked ) John you are truly wonderful. What would I do without you?

Carter: Well I hope we never have to fine out.

Lucy: What time is it?

Cater: 4:30

Lucy: Good I have time to clean up before we go to see Megan. I’ll be right back.

Carter: I’ll be right here.

Lucy goes into the bathroom to clean up.

End Scene Four:

While Lucy is in the bathroom cleaning up. The nurse enters.

Scene Five:

Nurse: Hello there I’m here for Miss. Knight.

Carter: She is in the bathroom.

Nurse: Ok I’ll be back in a few minutes.

Carter: If you like I could take her up to Megan’s room.

Nurse: That would be great. She is in room 504.

The nurse exits and Cater yells into the bathroom for Lucy.

Carter: Babe it’s 5 o’clock.

Lucy: Ok I’m ready ( walking out of the bathroom )

Carter: ( smiling as he looks at Lucy ) You are beautiful.

Lucy: Thank you Dr.

Carter: Are you ready?

Lucy: Sure lets go. ( walking to the door )

Carter: Wait a minute. Where are you going?

Lucy: To see Megan.

Carter: (Pointing to the wheelchair ) You have wheels.

Lucy: Oh come on John I can walk.

Carter: I’m going to argue with you about this. You are going to use the wheelchair.

Lucy: I’m not going to win am I .

Carter: Nope.

Lucy: Fine I’ll let you have this one.

Lucy gets into the wheelchair and Carter and her make their way to see Megan.

End Scene Five:

Outside Megan’s room Lucy takes a deep breath and they enter the room.

Final Scene:

Megan is sitting up in bed and her mother is feeding her.

Mrs. Johnson: Hello it’s very nice to meet you. I just want to think you for helping my daughter.

Lucy: Your welcome, but it’s really not necessary.

Mrs. Johnson: Well thank you anyways.

Lucy: This is my boyfriend Dr. John Carter.

Carter: ( shaking her hand ) Nice to meet you Mrs. Johnson.

Mrs. Johnson: No please call me Melissa. Well are you ready to see Megan.

Lucy: Yes.

Carter pushes her up to Megan’s bed.

Megan: Hello Lucy.

Lucy: Hi Megan how are you feeling?

Megan: I’m doing ok.

Lucy: I'm glad you are. Megan this is John.

Carter: Nice to meet you Megan.

Megan: (Looking at Lucy ) He is a cutie.

Lucy: I guess he is. ( smiling )

Carter: Lucy I’ll leave so you two can talk and I’ll be back in a bit.

Lucy: Are you sure? I mean.......

Carter: Don’t worry I’ll be right in the hall if you need me.

Lucy: Ok thanks.

Megan: Are you too going to get marry?

Lucy: Well he has to ask me.

Megan: He will, he loves you very much.

Lucy: Yes I guess he does.

Megan: I can see he loves you. So when you too get marry can I come to the wedding?

Lucy: Sure Megan when I get marry I’ll make sure you come to the wedding, but only if you come as a bride’s maid.

Megan: Cool I always wanted to be in a wedding.

Lucy: Good. So tell me a little about yourself.

Megan: Well I’m in 5th grade when I go to school. I have this boy that I like , but I don’t know if he likes me. My favorite subject is Math and I love Pizza.

Lucy: WOW. Well I love pizza too. Maybe someday we can go out for pizza.

Megan: I would like that.

Melissa taps Lucy on the shoulder.

Melissa: Lucy Jack will be back soon.

Lucy: Oh Ok . Megan I need to go, but before I leave to go to Chicago I’ll come to see you.

Megan: Ok thank you for coming to see me.

Lucy: No thank you.

Carter comes in to take Lucy back to the room.

Lucy: I’m ready.

Carter: Are you sure?

Lucy: Yes it’s time he answers some questions.

Carter: Well I told you I would do whatever you wanted. I’ll be right there with you whenever you are ready.

Lucy: I need to do this, but I need to meet him alone.

Carter: I’m not sure if I like that. I don’t want you to get hurt.

Lucy: Carter you are about the only thing that is going right in my life. Now I have the chance to make it right with my father.

Carter: Don’t you think he should be the one making it right?

Lucy: I know, but I need to do this.

Carter: I understand.

They make it to Lucy’s room and they talk some more. Lucy falls asleep. While Carter watches her sleep.
