Carter and Susan are sitting and talking about life in general.
“So, how is Lucy and my favorite little man doing?”
“Hey I thought I was your favorite little man,” he laughs with Susan, “Nicky is doing just great and Lucy still has that glow from the day I met her.”
“That's good. What time are you off?”
“An hour. You?”
”The same.”
“Do you want to come to dinner?”
“Are you sure it's alright with Lucy?”
“Yeah I'll call her and ask her anyway.”

At the Carter apartment, Lucy is sitting there with her son feeding and burping and changing him and waiting for her husband to come home. Upon hearing the phone ring, Lucy puts Nicky in his bouncy seat and answers it.
“Hello.”
“Hey Babe.”
“Oh hey.”
”What's the matter?”
”Nothing really , I am just so tired and your son has been keeping me busy all day and I haven't been able to do as much as I planned, Why?”
“Well, I invited Susan over for dinner but if you are too tired I can cancel.”
“No that’s fine I need a girl around here after being with you boys all day.”
“Hey we’re not that bad.”
”What time are you coming home?”
“We are off in an hour so figure around six thirty.”
“Ok.”
“Hey Lucy don't worry things will get better I promise, you'll see and if your good I' ll make all your troubles go away.”
“Now JOHN CARTER you know we have to wait six weeks and don't tease me like that.....” Nicholas screams in the background, “I got to go the baby is up.”
”I love you Luce.”
“Love you more.”

An hour and fifteen minutes later.
”Lucy we’re back.”
“Sh, I just got him to quiet down, he hasn't stopped screaming since we got off the phone... How are you Susan?”
“I am fine Luce, Thanks for having me.”
“Anytime you’re are always welcome here.”
Carter leaves the two to talk and walks into the living room to see his son.
Picking him up out of his bouncy seat.
“Hey little man.... How are ya, huh.... I missed you.”
“Hey Luce look at him smiling at me, its the first time I have seen him do that.”
“Ya, he has been doing that a lot and you haven't been around to see it.”
Seeing tension rising Susan buts in, “Hey Carter can you possibly detache yourself from him for two minutes and let me hold him?”
“Sure… Now you be bad for your aunt Susan.”
”Gee thanks Carter.”
“Luce can I talk to you a minute.”
“Sure, Susan can you excuse us for a minute?”
“Sure.”

In the bedroom, “What’s up John?”
“What was that hostility towards me back there.”
“Nothing.”
“Come on Luce, you promised to never lie to me.”
”It’s Nothing.”
“If we don't talk and work things out this family isn't going to work.”
“Fine you really want to know what’s up?”
“Yes I do, I love you more then anything and I want to help you.”
“Fine I need you to be there for ME, and you come home and run right to Nick, I feel like dirt, you spend more time with him then you do me, I am home all day, he doesn't like me, I can't keep him quiet long enough to conquer a few tasks and I am failing as a mom .”
”Wait, first off YOU are not failing as a mom.....You are the greatest alive, Second I am sorry I am not there for you more I promise to be there for you and think of you more. I love you and Nicky more than anything and I am always in your debt for carrying and giving me the greatest gift alive... You and my son. Don't ever feel left out, I will always love you and I fall in love with you more and more each day.”
Lucy was now crying, “John, I am sorry, I don't know what is coming over me, I know you never meant to do or think like that. I love you more than you know and Thank you for Nicky.”
”Anytime, you want to try for another one.”
Laughing, “I think we'll wait awhile.”
