The picture on the right was taken by an English friend, Darren Evans, and shows Jan Wolter, Marlou & Don Simeone in Amsterdam. It was during that trip that the name "Willy Woofter & The Mffdivers" was born (to be precise: the exact location was restaurant "De Lucht" alongside the A2) . Under this initial name the band made it's first appearance at cafe The Voom in Nederweert, on Wednesday the 1st of July 1987. After a short while the band was renamed to "The Muffdivers" ("cunnilinguists") and did a lot of energetic and incredibly loud gigs until 1993, when it all ended.

It all started way back in the early seventies, when I, inpired as I was by Jack Bruce, bought my first semi acoustic Egmond Bass. Didn't do much with it, until I got the chance of buying a Fender Mustang bass which at the moment still is in my posession..
Also in these years I joined my older brother's band, called Charing Cross, as sound technician at the mixing console. Musicians were Jos Saes (vocals), Han Feron (guitar) Jos van Vlierden (bass), Theo Peters (keyboards) Jan Sijben (drums)
If my memory serves me well it was in 1984 that Jan Wolter approached me at Cafe Apollo, and asked me if I was interested in joining the Oase Houseband, in order to do some gigs playing Mink Deville songs. This was very succesfull, and after OJC Oase and Cafe Apollo we did our first appearance at the Bospop Festival in Weert, in the magnificent open air Lichtenberg theatre.
