I started attending a Charismatic meeting led by a God fearing couple and they discipled me in the ways of the Lord. I was taught not to seek man, but to seek God through His Word and to obey Him no matter what the cost. I was also encouraged to hear from God because He is a Living God and not only hears us but He answers us even in an audible voice. I was so hungry to hear God's voice that I would rise in the wee hours of the morning and read His Word aloud because faith comes by hearing the Word of God.
One day at 5 o'clock in the morning I heard His audible voice say that I am an idol worshipper. I was afraid because there was no one in the room so I picked up courage and said "If You are God talking to me, show it to me in Your Word", because I was taught that when God speaks He will always speak in accordance to His Word, (I am writing this for many are deceived today when they hear voices and without checking out which spirit is talking to them they go and do silly things and end up in trouble. My friend, every voice is not God's voice, test the spirit that speaks to you, if you hear voices) and there before my eyes I was led to read Deutronomy 5: 8-10, "Thou shalt not make thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the waters beneath the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself unto them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God Am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate Me, And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love Me and keep My commandments." I closed my bible and opened it again and again for several times and all the time I got a similar verse in different sections of the bible.
What did I do, I obeyed and took all my little mud idols which I thought was Jesus and threw them into the sea. Praise God! Because I obeyed, God started teaching me through His Word and opening my eyes to the Truth. The next thing I did was to get baptized in the water for while reading scripture one day I found a verse in Acts 2:38-39 which said, "Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. For the promise is unto you, and to your children, and to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call."
I did not understand this verse since I was baptized as a baby in the Catholic Church. While I was trying to understand this scripture my friends dropped in and cleared my doubts, I immediately requested them to get me baptized. I still remember 6th December, 1987 I got water baptized and came out of the water a new creation in Christ Jesus. Hallelujah! I was so happy and filled with joy, The next thing the Lord did for me was to baptize me in His Holy Spirit in my own home, no man came and laid hands on me, but my Lord Jesus came and touched me and filled me with His Holy Spirit and I immediately started speaking in tongues and later started singing in tongues.
I want ask you, my friend, are you in trouble of any sort? Just reach out to Jesus, call on Him and He will answer you For His Word says in Jeremiah 33:3 "Call unto Me, and I will answer thee" What He has done for me and others, He will do for you also.
