As I came to the book of Daniel, I was all charged and it was for the first time in my life that I was reading about this great character which I have heard of from my childhood. It was like a fairy tale when I read about this abandoned youth in a foreign land, the lovely palace, the king, his sumptuous delicacies, Daniel�s friends and everything was very attractive. Just one scripture stirred me violently. Now let me show you that scripture, Daniel 1:8, �But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king�s delicacies, nor with the wine which he drank, therefore he requested of the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.�
I had never fasted until that point of time in my life. I have once in while given up non-vegetarian food very grudgingly though, because my mom had forced me to. I actually did not know anything about fasting. I was just fascinated with this guy Daniel. In Daniel 10:2-3 it says, �In those days I, Daniel, was mourning three full weeks. I ate not pleasant food, no meat or wine came into my mouth, nor did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.� I suddenly had a clear revelation why we should give up some delicacies and bring the body to submission by refusing certain rich food and show our dedication to the Lord. As I went forward to read verse 11, I was literally shaking, �And he said to me, 'O Daniel, man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak to you, and stand upright, for I have now been sent to you.' While he was speaking this word to me, I stood trembling." Verse 14 goes on to say, �Now I have come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days, for the vision refers to many days yet to come.� Wow, heaven trusted one man named Daniel to reveal the secrets of the future of a nation! Why? because this man learned to pray and most important, he learned to fast and tell God, �God I am serious�, and also fasting is an expression of our humility -- that is, our sense of utter dependence on God for what we need.
Daniel was a man who could move heaven and hell. Look what the angel of God says to him in Daniel 9:22, �O Daniel, I have now come forth to give you skill to understand. At the beginning of your supplications the command went out, and I have come to tell you, for you are greatly beloved�� The power in a man�s voice is not gauged by his eloquence, authority or attraction, but whether his voice can move heaven or not. I want to say it again, ���at the beginning of your supplications the command went out�� Heavens moved and reacted to the prayer of Daniel. WOW AND WOW!!
Friend, I am not interested in lazy Christians who just about have no time for God and prayers, but through this article I want people to get into a higher level of dimension with God.
Let me ask you a personal question: Do you have this authority in heaven and hell? Today my lovely friends, I want you to be victorious like Daniel over satan and his devices, and not be gullible people, vulnerable to the devil and never moving to the next level of anointing. Anointing is just not crying while worshipping or jumping and dancing, it is all about fasting and crucifying your flesh and walking in the anointing of God and coming forward not to just pray for a group of people, but to launch forward and pray for the nation and churches and governments. I am interested in creating some Daniels for God.
Friend, think of the lovely brothers in Saudi Arabia who have no clue of Jesus and the forgiveness of sins, think of the nations that have never been evangelized. My friends, living abroad, it would break your heart to walk the streets of India and watch the people worshipping monkeys, elephants, lizards, cows, trees, stones and call them gods. It just shatters you to watch a small toddlers fall and prostrate on the ground and worship that demon which has 10 hands and 10 heads, weird looking faces and with its tongue protruding out, it looks repulsive but these tiny tots fold their hands and show reverence to these creatures. Now, what do we do? Fasting and prayer is the only answer. Unlike Christians, these people fanatically fast and pray. These evil powers can be broken only through fasting and praying. Look what Jesus says, Mathew 17: 21, �However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.� Some people refuse to accept Christ and do not understand anything about heaven and hell, all because their mind refuses to understand the truth. I just quote the words of Jesus, John 8: 32, �And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.�
Fasting is a pleading cry to God to move Him to take action. He does act when people fast. I encourage you to start fasting right away! May the Lord bless you!
