If There's One Thing I Hate, It's Another Recycled Song About A Girl With An Unnecessarily Long Song Title That Has Nothing To Do With The Lyric Content (Cut From The Team)
When we woke up and we looked outside,
the sun became much brighter.
But it wasn't long before the sun was gone,
and we were burning in the fire.
I can't describe in words the hopelessness I feel......
My rage is swelling and so is my skin and I wish this wasn't real......
So I shut my mouth and I buried the dead,
in the ash where the city stood.
I walked to my old stomping ground,
it was covered in bodies and soot.
So I sat down and asked myself,
"Where did this all start?
What made people so selfish?
What drove them this far?"
Well once two kids shot up their school,
and they blamed it on the video games (but we knew better).
They took money from the schools and put it towards nukes,
and they told us it would keep us safe (but we knew better).
Then they said, "Let's go to war to free all those oppressed,"
but they were the ones who started killing us,
they knew oil was the real interest.
It's a win/lose, kill all, scorched earth overhaul,
a facelift for humanity.
Hypocrites and criminals, billboards and subliminals,
can't you see its all the same?
So when you wake under a mushroom cloud,
and you thought it'd never happen to you,
and the life you worked so hard to build is gone,
it's true, it could happen to you......
So weeks went by and I dont know why,
I couldnt bring myself to smile.
A part of me was missing,
and I hadn't been whole for a while.
Maybe it's that the human race
is such a contradiction.
Some paint or sing or write poerty.
Some bring us to the edge of extinction.
So I opened my mouth and I spoke out,
against the injustices toward my fellow man.
But it's a dangerous thing to be true and right
when the government is out of hand.
They said, "Let's use healthcare and tax cuts,
and a class system to divide the people,
so the rich make the rules and the poor dont complain,
cuz if ya do you're automatically evil!"
And they had the stories printed
that kept us only concerned with ourselves.
No one wants to read about anything else,
and terrorism makes the newspapers sell.
Who cares if we consume over half of humanity's goods
when all the third world countries are left without any food?
It's a matter of life and death,
just takes a little common sense.
Maybe just a little empathy.
It's a ghost, an anemone,
who is the real enemy?
Wish I could say I felt the same.
So when you wake up under a mushroom cloud,
and you thought it'd never happen to you,
and the life you worked so hard to build is gone,
it's true, it could happen to you...... |
