For those of you who are curious about what ladies wear when they ride aside, here is a picture of a pattern of the safety apron. It looks odd when you are not on your horse and it feels odd to wear it, however it does LOOK correct when you are riding, and it is very safe. All of the fastenings are Velcro, so if you come off your horse, there is nothing to keep you tied to the horse. There is also no fabric under your rear between you and the saddle, which makes the ride much more comfortable. The rest of the outfit is basically the same thing your wear astride, (jods, boots, shirt, jacket, helmet) unless you are riding in a costume class, then the rest can get very interesting. Though there are not a lot of pieces to the pattern, keeping the pieces in proper order and getting the garment fitted to you, your saddle, and your horse is a challenge.
