| This was taken at Piedmont's previous trip to the Nationals in 1992. He showed as a stallion then. I don't have any shots from the 2000 Nationals, yet, but I'm working on it. When I get them, I'll post them. | |||||||||||||||||||
| Jenny and Joel and a few others from the barn including Chris and Lea Hehmans, took Piedmont up to the Nationals in Lexington, Ky, in the first part of October. They left here with high hopes, but returned prizeless with a renewed sense of vision. It seems that Piedmont was too fat. He showed real well for both Jenny in the open and Joel in the AOTH, but he did not stand a chance as the boy was too heavy. His competition was such that in both categories, the vast majority of his classes placed top 10. Jenny claims that she learned a lot, and has "retrained" her eye to know what to look for in a National Quality Halter horse. She's also decided that she's going to invest in a good accupuncutrist so that she can shrink Piedmont's neck. It was and is considerably thicker than the Nationals competition. She also picked up a few new tricks for training Halter horses, and has a better feel for what National Judges are looking for in the performance horses. However, the current plan, assuming she still owns him in two years, is to take him back to the Nationals when it comes back to Lexington in 2002. |
