15 May 2003 My last update came from Airlie Beach, where I was to go on the Banjora the next day for three days of sailing. The first two days were just rainy and stormy, not too much fun. Luckily, we were only 6 guests so we had ample space to sit and walk around. Good crowd too, so still enjoyed myself. Day three was a brilliant day: 15 rather than 35 knots and sunny. We went to Whitehave Beach, absolutely gorgeous, and got the sails up for some proper sailing. I was behind the wheel quite some time which was hard work but great fun. The sailing was awesome, good wind and stuff, great! After Airlie, I went to Emu Park. Stayed at Emu Park Beach House for three nights, which was a really great hostel. The plan was to go to Keppel Island but as usual, the weather was rather disappointing so I stayed at Emu Park. There is not a whole lot to do, but the owners drove me to Yeppoon, to the marina and gave me lifts into town and stuff. Barry and Sonia are incredibly friendly, I felt really sorry leaving them and this very homey place. had a good laugh when I visited the local museum. It's tiny and there's not a whole lot to see, but it's run by volunteers and they were really the main attraction. Old men who were more than happy to show a young European girl around! Stayed there forever, great fun. I am now in Hervey Bay. What a boring place, unbelievable! Luckily, I am in a nice hostel, where beakfast and dinner are included in the price. This means everyone stays there for dinner and I met quite a few cool people last night. Was totally knackered after getting up at 5 am to catch my bus so had an early one. Most of the guys from last night should still be there tonight. Tomorrow I'll go to Fraser Island for two days, is supposed to be beautiful!

19 May 2003 Today is the day that I think my brother Eelco will arrive in Oz. In Melbourne, when I am still on the east coast, but at least we're in the same country! Had two lovely days on fraser Island, sunny and blue sky for a change! Lake Wabby and Lake McKenzy were amazing, especially the latter was incredibly clear and stunning. Very well spent two days. Took the bus to Noosa yesterday, where I am staying in Sunshine Beach (name of the area). My hostel, Dolphins, is very friendly and got loads of hammocks and comfy couches. Plan to stay here till Friday, when (probably) my friend Suzie who I met in WA will get here. The weather is just fantastic, and as this is my final chance to get tanned, I try to spend a few hours on the beach every day! From here I'll go to Brisbane which also should be good for a few days. Not too many interesting things to tell, the east coast is really quite boring but great to chill.

4 June 2003 Such a lazy bird... Time for an update from Sydney! Had a lovely time in Noosa, ended up staying for nine days. The weather was just gorgeous (during the day that is, f*&ng freezing at night) so left with a great tan! My mate Ciaran came for two nights and I made some friends with the people (men for some reason) in my dorm. Just a very chilled time. Went for a walk in the National Park one morning, was very beautiful. So, back in Sydney now (via Brisbane, which was nice but nothing special). Got here on Sunday, and went straight to Caro's. Staying with her and her two Irish flatmates now. They're all lovely and it's brilliant. Sydney in winter seems even more beautiful than Sydney in summer, it's amazing.... So good to be back. More coffee and papers at Starbucks, strolls in Paddington and nice lunches in Bondi. In about an hour, my brother and his girlfriend will meet me here, so I am quite excited. Loads of nice plans for the next few days, catching up with friends and showing my bro the city. But only five more sleeps and I'll be back on a plane!
