Energy and gas
Current investment projects in this field are
focused on connecting the National Power System (SEN) to the Union for
Electrical Power and Transport Co-ordination (UCTE) as follows:
Another priority is finalizing the construction
works at several HPPs, which are at different stages of completion, the 8 major
HPPs in need of more than USD 1 billion, particular attention being currently
paid to financing.
Projects aimed at covering the consumption peak
by building underground deposits in the depleted areas (Margineni-Roman, Piscolt
and Boldesti) need over USD 250 million.
The construction of a LPG terminal at Constantza
port and inter-connecting the Romanian gas transport network with those of the
neighboring countries (Hungary, Ukraine, Moldova etc.) need USD 150 million and
USD 50 million, respectively. Projects meant to increase Romania's transit
capacity for Russian gas to the Balkan Peninsula .
