Here I will try and sort out some of the questions that I have been getting and also keep you updated on what the pairings will be looking like. I now have 3 litters to work with as well as 1 on the way.
All have pedigrees!
The breeding components...
Shaded Greys- These tend to produce some of the best harlequins, no one really knows why. Part of their value is the aguiti gene, auguiti based harlequins have much stronger colour, and in my opinion, better patterns. You can see the black regons in their fur, particularly in the undersides. Christopher and Chex are both shaded greys in my herd and they have strong type, particularlly christopher. My up and comming herd buck  Imhotep is out of chex and has fantastic type!Best bred with a fully expressed harlequin, may produce 1 or 2 shaded greys per litter.
Self Harlequins - Fully expressed harlequins that have clear crisp barrel lines. When bred with other fully expressed harlequins will produce only harlequins, no shaded greys. The orange on them does tend to be noticably pailer then on aguit based harlequins. Examples are Rio Samba and Marigold. Well bred to shaded greys or aguiti based.
Aguiti Based Harlequins - Many breeders say that aguiti based is better, but when asked why, they have no specific answer. I feel that their colour is much more intense. I also find (so far atleast) that their barring is more evenly dispursed, but that could just be coincidence. Roxy and Marmaduke I believe are both aguiti based. Completly interchangeable! Fully Expressed.
