D. Leucomelas "Orange Banded"
This is the eighth kind of dart I added to my collection. I have been looking for these guys from the get go, but no one had any available. These came from a privrate keeper, but are from understories line. Bought them in March of 2008.
Another one of those dart that are hard to sex by visuals. The only way to be sure you have a pair is to hear calling and see eggs. Adults are around the 3-3.5cm range perhaps a bit bigger. They are a heavy bodied frog too which gives them a masive look.
Colour is a nice clear and dark orange, with black bands and spotting(belly is almost solid black the odd speckle of orange). I have seen individulas with very narow orange bands full of big black spots that bleed together and I have seen other frogs with wider ornage bands with smaller black spots, just depends on the individuals.
