This is the seventh kind of dart I added to my collection. I bought them from Green Oasis in February 2008.
Yet another large auratus morph with females around 2" (5cm), males slightly smaller, originating from Panima.
This is another variable aurauts, if not the most widely varied auratus morph I own. Base body colour can range from a deep blue to a bright green. Markings vary greatly in pattern intensity and colour with some being nearly spotted, while others have more of a reticulated pattern. Colour wise all young start out brownish black which will lighten as they age, possibly to the point of bronze with brown penciling. The whole body is also covered with an iridescent blue sheen, much stronger then with the microspots. Also the base colour is remarkable metalic which makes the colours in pictures much different then in person.
I have only had them a short while so cannot accurately comment on their personality and habbits, but so far although being shy, they are not as skittish as the giant blues and will readily eat in front of me.
