DEPARTMENT OF
COMPUTER STUDIES
Annual Report
2001-2002
Faculty Resources:
The
department has 8 full time faculty members and during the year
under review the Department had received support of 4 visiting
faculty members specialized in different disciplines. A primary
objective of seeking the services of visiting faculty for
programme during the year under review has provide skills to the
students on the new development in the field of Computer
industry. The visiting faculty was drawn from various software
companies of Bangalore and academic from Kolhapur.
Attendance at the Department by Teaching and Non-teaching
staff:
For the teaching faculty, it is very difficult to visualize a
time frame during the day for teaching and research activity in
the department. However faculty members were present in the
department at 9:00 hrs. and remain till 19:00 hrs. The timings
for the non-teaching staff were restricted for 8:00 hrs. to 19:00
hrs.
Attendance of faculty members at the Conference
Our faculty members Mr. D. Rajesh Duthie, Mr. Solomon Pushaparaj
and Dr. S. D. Bhoite had participated and Mr. Duthie & Dr.
Bhoite had presented research papers in the international
conference on Artificial Intelligence (ISAI'2001) held at Fort
Panhala, Kolhapur. Dr. R. A. Akerkar was the convenor and
chairman of international programme committee of the ISAI'2001
conference.
Seminars & colloquium :
Mr. D. Rajesh Duthie and Dr. S. D. Bhoite have attended national
seminar on Computer Applications held at Sardar Patel University,
Gujarat. Both the faculty members have presented research papers
in the conference.
Dr. R. M. Patil and Mr S. D. Mundhe had attended refresher course
in computer science held at University of Goa, Goa.
Activities of placement Cell:
The department has received excellent response for our project as
well as a campus recruitment program from software organizations.
Our alumni are appointed in leading companies. Some of the
companies have recruited our students are: Tata Technologies
Ltd., NIC, XLNET, Kale Consultancy, L& T IT, NAL Bangalore,
Fortune, DSS, Softpro, Indus Software, Surya Consultancy, CMC. We
wish to continue our support to industry by offering our current
batch of students for placements. We are happy to note that 64
final year students out of 68 were absorbed in the organization
where they did their organizational training.
The department has received excellent response for project
recruitment program form software organizations. In December
2001, our final year MCA students have joined software
organizations in Pune, Mumbai, Bangalore and New Delhi for their
organizational training. Most of them were place din well known
IT companies almost of them also getting Stipend for the project
period. Dr. R Akerkar, Dr. S. D. Bhoite, and Mr. Ajay Shinde has
made visits to many of the software organizations in Pune,
Bangalore, Pimpari, Chinchwad, Vashi, And Mumbai, where our
students were placed for project phase was over, 96 % of our MCA
project trainees got placement in the some organization and few
more are likely to be continued in their respective project
organization.
