EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

Department undertakes a number of extension programmes. No. of students from nearby schools are given opportunity to develop themselves by allowing them to participate in various activities that the Department arranges for them through our faculty members. These activities include holding competitions in Programming, Essay Writing on computer related topic, Software Demo etc. The importance of IT literacy and education is explained to them. Slow learners are specially coached by our Department faculty and students. The children are also brought to the soft demo or exhibition to enable them to enjoy themselves at the computer lab.

The department's placement committee prepares a list of the broad areas of the various extension activities of the department. The list is circulated among the staff members. The staff members indicate their area of interest and how they could make a significant contribution. A list of students interested in these activities is also prepared to ensure student participation in the process of planning and implementation. This helps to make their education more meaningful. We have structured questionnaire specially design to collect a feedback form from students on the extend of their involvement in extension activities, whether from the college or outside in their individual capacities. Department has a counselling committee which engages in dealing with problems that students encounter. The committee is supervised by the Head of the Department and personnel counselling is given for various emotional problems ranging from fear of examination, relationship problems, communication problems etc. The committee also participates in vocational guidance wherein information regarding career options is provided and design making is facilitated.

Personality Development Workshops are conducted to cater to the overall personality development of the students. A number of students have benefited from the counselling provided. Students have been guided to make career designs, keeping in mind their aptitude and interest. Self-confidence had been boosted and dear of public speaking reduced by encouraging them to participate in various presentations and discussions.

Yearly about 30 school teachers from various schools in Kolhapur District are given opportunity to develop themselves by the inviting them to participate in IT FEST and Soft Demo that the department arranges for them through our faculty and bright students. These activities include online lectures on advanced IT topics, Basic Computer skills and Electronic learning. The importance of the multimedia technology in education is explained to them. This has created tremendous of self confidence and self sufficiency among these teachers.
 

IT FEST and SOFT DEMO A software competition -cum - exhibition is organized every year in the month of February to provide the students a platform to interact with the fellow students and professionals from the industry. Learned guests are invited from various IT organisations and aacdemics as expert judges. Many school / college students, their parents and teachers from nearby places visit the exhibition and enjoy the IT FEST.

INDUSTRIAL SEMINARS Every year Industrial Seminars are arranged, especially for MCA -III (Semester- V) students, by the Department. Various experts from IT industry and academics participate in the activity and deliver seminar lectures. Normally, first half of the every academic year is full with industrial seminars. Current IT Trends, Personality Development, Comunication Workshops are also organised in every semester.

STUDY TOUR

Every year industrial study tours are being organised for final year MCA students. These tour are basically conducted to give on-site exposure to our students. So far, we have visited IT cities like, Bangalore, Pune, Hydrabad.
 

STUDENT's GATHERING Each year, we organise student get-together programme. This is normally planned alongwith IT-FEST activity in the month of February. Here students get opprtunity to show their musical, acting, singing skills.
