BRCW CLASS 33
The Birmingham Railway & Carriage Works produced this locomotive which rarely left the Southern Region. The chance of seeing these pass through Saxilby was not nill, as I thought, but were in fact quite good in the Sixties when ECML cement trains were occasionaly diverted via Lincoln. Thanks to John Stubley for correcting me here. If I had bothered to look in one of my books, I have prints of them double-heading through Doncaster. The 33's worked as far north as York, where motive power was changed for the onward journey to Uddingston. The 33's would take charge of the empties again on the return trip to Cliffe.
