HISTORY - ORIGINAL RESEARCH Between May and December 1955, Katharine Sibbring, with the help of Evelyn Gibbs, traced her husbands antecedents and described the methods of research in a series of BBC television programmes designed to show how the inexperienced amateur can make his own family tree. A number of people who saw the programmes provided clues which were of great importance in establishing an unbroken line of descent and three other branches of the Sibb(e)ring family, all previously unacquainted, were discovered and brought together. Following further years of research by both Katharine and husband Jack, family members were finally reunited from all over the globe in July 2000. They met in Standish, Lancashire, where it is believed their forebears first settled in England. (See Millennium Gathering)
