CF: CT-1802A-08 April 8, 2008 Mountain Biking Trails (Near Perth Amboy) 1335hrs Jordan watched Thomas speed down the hill at what seemed like 100 miles a minute. He was going pretty fast, laughing all the way down. The bike went over a mound and he was in mid-air. Jordan watched as he took his hand off the handlebars. He barely made the landing as he hit the ground, skidding a bit to the left. He yelled back up to her, "Come on Holly! What a rush." What a crazy nut, he was whacked. Jordan took a breath and followed his path down, however at a more reserved speed. Her teeth rattled together at each rock she went over. She approached the jump and felt her bike leave the ground, followed by the sensation of floating. She didn't take her hands off though. She came down hard, her tires also skidding. To regain control she stuck a foot on the ground and slowed down. She stopped just as she lightly bumped into Thomas's bike. She looked at him with a hug grin on her face. Her heart was pounding from the adrenaline. "You weren't kidding! That was the best ride ever!!" Jordan exclaimed. More like scare her shitless, but he wasn't going to know that. "Told you. Let's do it again, but I know a better place, it's steeper!" Thomas suggested, getting excited with anticipation. Jordan looked at him, doubtful. "Come on man, it'll be the best ride you've ever had." Thomas responded upon seeing her doubt. "What the hell, let's go!!" Jordan exclaimed, hoping she sure as hell wasn't making the worst mistake of her life. Thomas lead the way, all the while talking about how much fun he was having. Jordan ducked underneath the branches, side stepping branches that Thomas careless went past, only to come swinging back to their original place. He stopped and Jordan peaked over his shoulder. There was the perfect slope, perfect by means of rocky and dangerous. Jordan's stomach turned at the thought of riding down it. Thomas looked at her, smiling broadly, "So what do you think? Me and a few buddies have gone done here before. It was spectacular!!" "Definitely," Jordan told him. "Man Holly, you're like one of the guys. Most of the women I go out with are all dolled up, and worry about breaking a nail. Girl, you're awesome!" Jordan smiled, pleased at the compliment, she glanced shyly up at him, letting him know it was appreciated. His smile got bigger, and he gave her a high five, "Alright! Let's go!" Jordan watched as Thomas climbed back onto his bike and pushed off. He went sailing down the slope, barely missing a tree and had to jump off his bike to avoid smacking into another one. Crazy boy. When he stoped, he yelled with excitement, and Jordan followed him down. She felt the bike gaining speed, realizing she was going too fast. Her tires were propelled to the left by some rocks, and she found herself in the path of yet another tree. She was fully aware at how fast she was going, too fast to stop in time. So she picked the easiest course, jumping off her bike, but her jumping off wasn't as graceful as Thomas's had been. Instead of landing on her feet, she landed on her knees, scrapping them. Hurt like a bitch. Jordan heard her bike bang into the tree and then Thomas yelling up at her, but she didn't answer. Thomas came running up the hill and found her sitting in the mud, with both pant legs pulled up. Jordan was looking down at her knees. They were bleeding a bit, but not too badly. "Holly, you okay?" Jordan nodded and said in a quiet voice, "Yep. You're right though, this hill was even better than the last." She hoped the essence of vulnerability would shine through. Thomas sat down besides her and took the tissue out of her hand and pressed it onto her closest knee. She winced a little bit at the pressure. "Ya, it's quite a ride, mountain biking and all. But" he didn't finish sentence though, instead moved closer, kissing her. When he pulled back he smiled and said, "I've been wanting to do that since I saw you yesterday." Jordan grinned at him and kissed him again, noting his enjoyment. It was done and she had her target. She had him and she did it her way. Samboy Aggregates 1535 hrs Jordan leapt out of the truck, exclaiming, "Tom, I'll see you later." She was late; Paige would be wondering what was going on. Thankfully, Thomas had agreed to drive her directly to Samboy. She waved goodbye to him and ran to the gate. Thomas would be back later for his shift. She entered through the gate, asking the guards, "You boys wouldn't happen to know where Melissa is at the moment do you?" She gave them a big smile and a wink. The guard closest to her, Frank, as it read on his nametag, replied, "Ya, she's in her office." Jordan nodded, "Thanks!" She headed over to the office and let herself in. As expected, Paige was there; she was working on her report. She grabbed a chair and sat down directly across from the desk. In keeping with her cover she said, "Sorry I'm late Melissa, but I was doing some research at the library." Paige looked up at her, knowing full well what she had been doing earlier. "Well Holly, if it happens again, we will just find someone else for this internship. Now, let's go, we've got plenty of work to keep us busy `til Christmas." Jordan rose out of her seat and walked into the hallway, however, she wasn't going to be spending too much time going through the smelly mixture today. She had other things to check out. As they walked Paige explained what they would be doing, "We'll both work on going through the dredges for a good couple of hours, but then I need you to go through the samples in the office, categorize them, and write up a brief summary for each. It should take you a good four hours to do it. Try to get them all done, I need to get cracking on my report for RJ." Jordan nodded, "Sure thing Melissa." 1905hrs Jordan walked towards the main building that housed the offices, where she was supposed to be going. The place was quiet now, the day staff long gone and the afternoon shift was out on the boats, only a few security guards were kicking around. Timing was perfect to do a little seeking, seeking for those weapons. They couldn't move until they had some hard evidence. Gray had emphasized that point to her and Paige earlier that day. So, while Paige kept the guards busy, Jordan was to search the place. She knew she had to move quickly so she could cover a lot of ground. She went into the building in case the guards were watching, but then went out a different exit. She then walked swiftly to the building that was the furthest away. She figured that she would start with those ones and work her way closer, since the longer she searched the more chance she had of getting caught. The first warehouse she approached was locked, but she quickly jimmied the lock and let herself in. She glanced around; it was a garage of some sort. She could see various trucks and van, all belonging to the company. She searched around, looking in the vehicles, but found nothing. She crept back outside, and noticed a guard walking around. His back was to her, so Jordan crouched down, and hid behind a few wooden crates until he was gone. She then went to the next building, but this time the door wasn't locked and for good reason too, it was empty. Nevertheless, she walked around, banging the walls some, but still nothing. 2125 hrs Jordan walked back towards the main office building. She had searched the back ones, but much to her frustration did not find a single weapon, nothing, nil, zilch. She started towards another warehouse. "Hey you!" a voice called out. Jordan turned around to see a guard striding towards her. She was caught. "There you are. I was hoping I would find you. Melissa has my key for the office building, but she's all the way over on the other side of the lot. Being my lazy ass self, I don't want to walk all the way back over there just to get the key. You wouldn't be able to let me in would you?" The guard looked at her, annoyed. "Once, I will do this. You'd better remember your freaking key next time." "Thanks," Jordan replied, giving another smile to him. After he had let her in to the office, she sat down, and did some of the categorizing. She was done within about 45 minutes. Jordan got up from the squeaky chair and walked out of the office. She headed back over to where Paige was, still crawling around in the fish guts, but she had made some progress, there were more bags on the side. Jordan dived right in again, helping her. For a moment Paige looked at her, asking with her eyes what had been discovered. With her eyes downcast, Jordan shook her head slightly. Both Rebecca and Gray were going to be far from happy to hear this. Return |
