May 25, 2008 Safe House 1: Roof Top 0455hrs Jordan walked behind the others towards the elevator. They had rode most of the way back in silenceall in their own thoughts. She didn't know the others who were seated around her, and frankly, she wasn't in the mood for fake "getting to know you" chitchat. Enough with that crapmaybe she'd make an effort latermaybe. Her thoughts were on other things, on her team of particular, team of four not five like someone liked to think. Fat chanceher wariness of him had worn off, now she was just angry and wanted to give him what he had coming. Asking to get the data like that, then trying to get her team killed, ya *thanks!* She saw him standing there, waiting by the elevator. She stopped a few feet from him, but he didn't notice. Instead, Gray who was up on the roof to meet them (something which surprised her) got his attention. Seconds later both men were engaged in a battle of words. She listened like the rest were doing. Silently urging Gray on. Nevertheless, the elevator arrived not a moment too soon, and they made their way into it. Gray however, called over his shoulder to them, "No one leaves until a full debrief is conducted." She looked at him, fine whateversleep didn't matter anyhow. 09.05hrs SH 1 Lounge She opened one eye, seeing who had bumped her. She saw Timothy sitting at the end of the couch. She had been sleeping even since she stepped off the elevator, waiting for debrief. "Ohsorry for waking you Jordan." She shook her head sleepily at him, "No worries. You know when the debrief is yet?" Timothy shrugged. "No, hopefully soon though." "Ya, no kidding," she replied getting up. Since she was already awake, might as well do something else, she wasn't going to be able to sleep anymore. She left the lounge and headed up one floor to the locker room. A shower would be good, would wake her up. She walked into the locker room. Good, no one was there. Happy to have the place to herself she opened her locker. She still had Joshua's disks in her vest pocket. She wondered why he hadn't gotten them from her. Whatever, she shrugged and placed them deeply into the locker before shutting it and heading to the hot steamy shower. Refreshed, she grabbed her back and headed out of the locker room. She felt her wrist for her watch, finding it not there she stopped and opened up her bag. Where was her damn watch? "Hey Jordan," a voice said quietly. She stopped, knowing it was Joshua. Bastard. She turned towards him, surprised by his closeness. "Joshua," she replied. She moved against the locker room door as Joshua stepped closer to her and leaned with both his arms. He was so close to her now. She could do it, clenching her fists. She'll show him that she's not some stupid puppet that he can play games with and threaten. His voice barely above a whisper, he asked, "You got something for me Jordy?" She clenched her hands again, `oh ya, do I ever have something for you. Nocome on, let's be serious here Jordy, he's bigger then you are, hurt though, I could use that to my advantage though. Nonot nowwait and a better opportunity would come.' With her left hand she dug into the pocket of her navy cargo, and pushed the disks at him, "Here," she didn't want them anymore. "It's all here." A triumphant smile crossed his face as he grabbed the disks, "It better befor your sake," he replied, stepping back. "Thank you." She stared at him, `pompous freak, you think I'm an idiot?' She slide past him, now let him go play with his disks. Trembling slightly she walked down the hall, almost surprised at her anger. "Oh, Jordan?" he called to her. She stopped, `fuck, what now?' She turned, facing him again. With disks in hand he said, "You did good, I owe you one." He didn't wait for her reply or reaction, instead, walked away, down the hall. She gapped at him. `He did not just say that. Maybe he had sensed her anger and was continuing with the puppet strings, make her feel needed and that she could asked him in return for a *favor.* Somehow she didn't think so. He was all too mysterious for her liking. 09.45hrs With a steaming cup of coffee she walked into the lounge. Timothy was still there, however this time he was napping. She could be mean and get back at him for waking her up earlier. Nahso instead she sat down on the opposite couch and blew on her hot coffee. Just as she sat down, Gray stuck his head in, "Debrief in a few minutes, in the conference room." She nodded at him, and Timothy awoke. She repeated Gray's words and he nodded sleepily. She handed him her coffee, "Here, you need this more than I do. I haven't touched it yet." Timothy looked at her for a moment, and then reached for the coffee. "Thanks Jordan." She only nodded and headed to the conference room with Timothy. Everyone was there so she sat down quickly, besides Saf, smiling slightly at her. She looked tired. Gray cleared his throat to the already quiet group. "Before I begin, I thought you all might like to know that Paige and Eric are stable, and Sebastian just came out of surgery." He paused for a moment, seemingly gathering his thoughts before moving on. "Some new intel has come to our attention," he started and nodded to Simon who brought a few images up on the screen. "We now know that the Red Cardinal was in fact at the warehouse approximately 30 minutes before we arrived." Pointing to the first picture he said, "Here is the Red Cardinal and an unknown leaving the building and this is them leaving," pointing to the second image. Jordan nodded and wondered how convenient it was for him to be leaving not 30 minutes before. Gray nodded at her, "Had we gotten there about 45 minutes earlier, we could've had him. But we didn't. Nevertheless, what I want to know, with three of our agents injured, did you see anything out of the ordinary and if so what?" He paused again, looking at the group. Jordan watched him and thought about his question. Had she seen anything out of the ordinary? She was kinda busy not getting herself killed and later getting that data copied. Maybe it was the datawith Joshua wanting the data. Sure that was way out of left field, but she was grasping at straws to find a reasonable explanation and was still coming back empty. Gray went around the table asking everyone. There were little inconsistencies, the large number of stacks and boxes, seemed a little odd. Also, the level of resistance, all the Red cell ops fought until the very end, and they were better qualified then in the past. Jordan just listened, not quite knowing what to make of it, but then half of her didn't really care. At last Gray came to her, asking her about what she saw in the offices and labs. "Nothing, it was just labs and offices." Gray nodded and moved on, telling Saf that she didn't need to comment since he has spoken with her earlier."Well, that pretty much wraps things up," Gray stated to the group, dismissing them. So really what the whole mission came down to was bad luckbad luck missing the cardinal, and bad luck with everything else that went wrong. Jordan rose out of her chair, she was ready to leave. Go home, away from people. Quiet and solitude beckoned to her. Perhaps she'd stop by medical and see how Paige and Baz were doing first. Return |
