Baz's Apartment
18.45 hrs

Jordan waited for Baz to let her in, hearing the locks turn.

He greeted her with a smile, "Hey Jordy! How's everything? Store going?"

She nodded, "Ya, it's alright, not much happening really, but I did hire someone new."

"Oh ya? She..he any good?" Baz replied, closing the door behind her.

"She is doing well, taking a little longer to learn the buttons, but okay."

Baz nodded, "So, what brings you by?"

"I got a phone call from Saf earlier today, inviting me to dinner."

Baz nodded slowly, "Ya, she phoned me too."

"Great! I thought we'd head over there together."

Baz looked at her for a moment before replying, "Thanks, but no thanks, I'm not going."

She wasn't surprised by the answer, but wondered what exactly had transpired between the two of them. She wanted to ask, but didn't, instead she told him the same thing she had told Saf. "We are a team, I don't know what you have against Saf, but you need to be able to work by her side, trust her and know she will help you also. She needs time, been through hell and back practically, just don't close yourself off from her."

Baz shifted from side to side, "YaI know Jordy, it's just that I can't see inside her head, I don't know what she's thinking. One moment she's fine, and the next, geezwho knows. What the hell happened to her to make her like this?"

It was her turn to feel uncomfortable. It was inevitable that he ask, ask about the past without meaning to, answers to which she knew she couldn't tell him.

As if seeing her feelings, Baz patted her arm and said, "No I shouldn't be asking you this, I'm prying, asking questions I know you can't answer. It's like if you were asking about my past. We all have baggage, just some of us have more I suppose."

She nodded, but didn't say anything. "Well, let's go then. I can't trust by staying here," he answered after a moment.

"Just give her space you know? Don't try to force her to talk to you, she will when she's ready," she said as they walked to the door. Baz nodded, but didn't say anything, he knew.

Saf greeted them at the door, along with the tantalizing smell of dinner. She was always happy for an invite to dinner, especially when she didn't have to cook. She sat down on the sofa besides Paige, who had a beer in her hand.

"Hey Jordy," Paige greeted her with a smile. "Want a beer?"
"In a sec, how are ya?"
"Oh fine. Not much going on, just stuff, you know how it is. How's the store? You mentioned on the phone a couple days ago that you were interviewing people."

"Oh ya, that's done and over with. Good thing to, I don't know how people can do it, interviews after another, by the second person I was bored as hell. I didn't think people could lay on the sugar anymore!"

Paige laughed, "You're too funny."
She smiled, "Whatever, got someone hired though, Carol."

Jordan looked around for the others, in the kitchen. Her stomach rumbled, impatiently waiting to be fed.
"So how's that new girl working out then?" Paige asked, taking another sip of her drink.
"Well, you know how it goes with training, crappy at first, usually, then getting better. She's getting better, damn good thing too," she replied to Paige. Geezthe only thing she could talk about was her store.

Paige laughed again and stood up, "That food in there just smells too good to stay in here."

Indeed it was and she went home happily, with a full stomach and a smile on her face, glad to be where she was.

Jordan looked again that the tea and jam that Saf had given her. It was lying on the counter, along with her key where she had left them last night. She was surprised that Saf had gotten her a gift. She was a giving person, something she couldn't say about herself. Dinner had been great, as always though. Had to hand it to Saf, she was damn good in the kitchen. She was also happy she had convinced Baz to come. He hadn't said anything to her about it when she dropped him off last night, just that it was fun.

She glanced at the clock and realized she really needed to go. Her store was due to open in less than 15 and she was still here. She grabbed her toast as it popped out of the toaster and did a half-ass job of putting the peanut butter on it. She transferred her tea into a travel mug and was out the door.

She pulled into the parking lot and saw Carol waiting there; of course Carol was there on time. Grabbing her bag and what was left of her tea, she went to open up.

"Sorry, I hope you weren't waiting too long," she apologized to Carol. "It was a late night."
"Oh, no problem. I was worried myself. Timmy, my cat, I told you about him right?" Without waiting for an answer she continued, "He just didn't want me to leave this morning. Almost wanted to bring him here."

She chuckled a bit, "Cute cat, but as much as I'd love to have him, I'm allergic, so probably not a good idea."
Carol stared up at her, "Oh ya, wouldn't want you getting sick over Timmy."
She nodded. "I'll get the coffee and tea going, you worry about the cash register."
"No problem Jordan."

After the hot beverages had been dealt with she excused herself to the back, "That paperwork never seems to get any smaller. Someday I'll catch up I'm sure. Just yell if you need anything."

Carol nodded.

She was finally done the stupid paperwork, took her all day, but she had done it. If she didn't have to see another invoice again, she'd be happy. Dawn was now working. She had been thankful when Carol had gone home. She couldn't quite place her personality, but it bordered on invading her privacy. She felt that Carol was far too observant.

Nevertheless, she could go home now. She packed up her bag and put on her sweater. She was going to head over to Edison for a bit and rent a movie or something afterwards. Walking out into the front after locking her office door, Dawn stopped her, "Jordan, do we have a booked called The Unauthorized Autobiography of Lemony Snicket?"

"Oh, it also goes by the name of The Pony Party," said the lady who wanted the book.

"Hmmlet's see here, I know we don't have it in stock. I've never heard of it before. Did you check the computer?" she asked Dawn.

"Sure did, but didn't come up."
"Okay, I'll be back in a sec. I'll check the catalogue in the back. Please help yourself to some tea or coffee while you are waiting."

She went into the back and pulled out the catalogue. She was thumbing through the pages when Dawn called back to her,"Jordan, your cell phone is ringing."

"Crap," she replied and grabbed the catalogue and rushed up to the front. She dug into her bag and grabbed the ringing phone.

"Hello?" she said, handing the catalogue to Dawn and pointing to the page.
"Jordan it's Gray. There is a briefing at 20.00 hours, SH one."

She had moved away from Dawn and the lady, "Okay, I'll be there," she replied, closing her phone and turning back to the two women. Dawn had found the book and was ordering a copy for the lady, who still remained nameless.

She waved good-bye to Dawn and was out the door.

After receiving the kick from Baz and entertaining herself by calling him a jerk, she firmly planted her foot into Baz's leg. Baz didn't move, but looked over at her evilly, yet jokingly. The briefing was going to start any second now. But instead of watching Gray or Joshua, she watched Kihnor Eric as he now was called, which Paige had informed her off. She hadn't know he was here as well, she thought they were the only ones. Hell, she didn't even know there was a beta team. Goes to show how much she had involved herself in this place.

Saf came over and sat beside her. "Hi Jordy, any idea what's going down?"

She replied that she didn't, but was equally as curious. It had to be something of substance. She looked at Joshua for a moment, wondering about him. Should she confront him later and ask him why the hell he was in her store? Of all the places
