"Some See it Slower"
I'm frightened by what I see
But somehow I know that there's much more to come
Immobilized by my fear
And soon to be blinded by tears
I can stop the pain

The four agents and computer techy gazed at the screen in front of them. It showed Baz in a heated conversation with Stewart and one of his companions.

"I don't think it's so good," Bella said staring intently at the screen. Paige nodded her head in agreement though her eyes never left the laptop.

"Just give him a minute, let's see where it goes," Safara said calmly.

They listened to the discussion and it was just as Baz had said earlier: Stewart didn't trust the meet, he thought Baz knew the cop. Which he did, but Stewart wasn't supposed to know that. Now they were yelling at each other.

"Maybe we should go?" Jordan asked hopefully.

Safara stared at the screen as Paige watched anxiously. "We don't want to blow this meet..." Safara said evenly.

Even as she spoke Stewart drew his weapon. "Fuck this," Paige said getting up and heading for the van door throwing it open.

"Paige," Safara called after her.

Paige jumped to the ground and ran towards the back of the club. "This meet is not going down," Baz's flustered voice came over her comm. Paige could hear the gunshots in stereo now, both in her comms and from the alley. Paige halted and peeked around the corner. 'Police' she heard. Police? "Did the cop just blow his cover?" Paige asked into her comm.

"We've got a civilian on the scene," Simon said and she could hear the panic in his voice.

"It's another fucking cop," Baz hissed. "He is not part of the scenario. I repeat, not part of the scenario."

"Do not engage," Safara ordered.

"I've got two bogies leaving, south alley," Paige said from her vantage point.

"I'm sending Alpha Three out," Safara said.

"Alpha One," Paige said, "get out of there, come back towards me."

"Can you see him, Alpha One?" Baz asked.

Oh yeah, Paige looked, there was that other guy, but couldn't see him as she watched Baz peek his head over the garbage bin he was hiding behind and send a few rounds down the other side of the alley.

"Negative Alpha One, you see anything Tac 1?"

"Negative, fall back," Simon responded.

She caught Baz's eyes and she shook her head. "Don't move Alpha One, we'll go around the other side."

"There's no time, cover me," Baz said breaking his cover. Just as he did she heard another scream from the darkness, 'Freeze!'

"Fuck," she said and moved out from her position. But whoever was doing the yelling was around the other corner and she was helpless. Baz turned and as he did she could see another turn the corner behind him. She held her breath and raised her weapon but it was too late. Three deafening shots rang out. She watched not seeing the actual bullets, though everything had slowed down, as if they were all standing in water. She saw Baz's body jerk unnaturally as each bullet impacted his chest. Paige held her breath not believing what she had just seen.

"Report Alpha Two," Safara's voice came over her comm.

Paige shook herself, "Alpha One is down," she said and ran towards Baz's body that lay on the ground.

The man that had shot him stood over the body looking at her blankly. She held her gun to his head but her eyes were drawn to the three gaping holes in Baz's chest, his eyes, once so alive, now staring endlessly at the bricked alley wall. He was dead. Baz was dead. It played over again in her mind. She stared hard at the man as she heard Alpha Three running down the alley behind her. She gestured to Baz's lifeless form

"Look what you did," she whispered.
