June 13, 2008 Safehouse 1 9th Floor Lounge 0650 hours Both Jordan and Saf watched Paige leave to tell Brain. Poor kid, after all he's been through, this was probably the last thing he needed. But Jordy was pretty sure he'd bounce back, kids always do and faster then their older counterparts. She turned her head towards Saf, about to ask what she was going to now, but Saf was already off the couch and heading out the door. She shrugged her shoulders to the empty room and remained seated. Out of the corner of her eye she saw some movement and looked over to see Bella walking towards her. Bella sat down on the couch besides her and asked, "How you doing?" She didn't reply immediately, she was getting tired of everyone asking, she swore, if someone asked her again "Surviving. Yourself?" she answered and asked the same in return. "Feeling better. Look I'm sorry about your friend. That really sucked." She nodded, it sure did, but she couldn't do anything about it. She could pull her ass off the couch and get a move on, like Joshua said in his great words of wisdom. Sure, whatever, he was such a prick. Bella on the other hand, had a handle on it. "Thank you for the picture, it was nice," she said simply and was happy that Bella had given her a picture. Thoughtful. Bella smiled in return, but didn't offer any words. Before Bella could say anything else, she asked, "So what were you up to? See anything interesting outside?" Bella smirked, "Nah, not really. Just outside. Got a few honks though as I weaved in and out of traffic." She laughed, picturing the looks people would have on their faces as Bella shot by. Jordan laughed and then after a moment or two she continued. "So, I know you were in Section and all before here, but what about before that?" Bella didn't reply right away Jordy continued, "you can tell me to shut it anytime, I'm just curious. I know the past can be painful" Bella sighed, making Jordy regretted asking the question. Bella finally replied, "I was a member of the IRA, smuggling mostly, people, guns, other weapons. The entire team was ratted out by someone from the inside." She was careful not to embellish any more on who that person had been. "Got into that because I saw my parents gunned down at the diner table by the English. Apparently my father was leader in the IRA and my mother helped them out too. It seemed the right thing to do, to take up their cause. Basically, I think I was born to this life." There was a long silence and so many thoughts where going through her head. She wasn't really listening to what Bella was saying, instead she had just listened her voice dropping and pausing with the words. She shouldn't have asked "BellaI'm sorry for askingI shouldn't have." "Don't worry about it, it's not like you're interrogating me. Besides, this isn't section anymore; we can talk more freely here. So what about you? How'd you get here?" "Well I got to Section by killing some government agents. I belonged to this groupwe were against the government, like most college students are. They lack funds, so they feel oppressed. Anyhow, we ticked the government off pretty good cuz we were always breaking into their buildings and copying filesyou know how it is. They finally caught us and section caught me." Bella nodded. "Do you like the life?" Jordan shrugged, but didn't reply. Suddenly her cell phone rang from the table it sat on. She picked it up and saw the bookstore's phone number flashing on the screen. She was surprised to see them calling, her employees knew she was at a conference. She turned to Bella and said, "Sorry, Bella, you'll have to excuse me. It's my bookstore." Bella nodded and she rose quickly and headed out the door with her ringing cell phone. It stopped ringing as the voice mail picked up. She walked down the hall, waiting for the beep telling her that there was a message, but it never sounded. She didn't bother calling back, if it would've been important she knew they would've left a message. She kept walking through the halls, not really knowing where she was headed, but she eventually found herself besides Simon, who appeared to be doing some data analysis on the computer he was sitting at. "Hey Jordan," he greeted her. "Hi, can I help?" she asked him. She needed to do something, anything to keep her fingers and mind half occupied. Simon looked at her, "No, I don't think so." She didn't reply, just kept looking at him. After a moment he said, "Well, I've got some data imputing you can do." "Great, just show me where." Simon got up and moved over to another computer and pulled up some files and explained what needed to be done. She sat down in front of the screen and started, glad to have something to do. Sometime later Jordan stretched her arms and got up from the computer. She had finished the data inputting. She told Simon she was done and walked out of the room. She headed towards the lounge, wondering if anyone would be there and she found Saf sitting on the couch drinking coffee or tea, she couldn't tell. Saf didn't look too hot and she wondered if she shouldn't eat sometime. "When's the last time you ate?" she asked Saf. Saf shrugged her shoulders, "I'm not hungry though." "Oh yes you are," she replied pulling Saf up with her. She wasn't hungry really herself, but she hadn't eaten anything since the day before. "Come on, I'm sure we can get a chocolate cake whipped up for us or something with ice cream." "Do you know what time it is?" Saf asked her. She looked down at her wrist, she must've left her watch by the computer, "No, but does it matter?" "It's the morning, cake is not breakfast." "Well we haven't slept yet, so it isn't breakfast. You can have whatever you want, but I'm having cake," she replied more happier than she was feeling. Saf chuckled, "Fine, let's go." Moments later they were in the and she walked up to the chef and asked, "Do you have any chocolate cake?" The chef smiled and said, "Afraid not, but we have brownies." She looked at Saf, "Will brownies work?" "Yup." "You want ice cream with em?" Saf shook her head, "No." "Brownies it is, one with ice cream though please," she said to the chef who nodded his head and turned away to get them their food. Jordan grabbed a chair and sat down while Saf brought over the plates and forks. She took a bit and did it ever taste good. Saf was clearly enjoying hers as well. They didn't say much to each other, just sat is a comfortable silence. With something in her stomach, she was finally starting to feel sleepy and was having difficulty keeping her eyes open. "I think this lack of sleep is finally catching up with me," she said to Saf with a huge yawn. "Well, then you should go sleep." "Good idea, I'll catch ya later," she replied getting up and heading to find a bed. She found herself in medical and went into an empty room and climbed into a bed and fell asleep immediately.
