June 13, 2008 Midtown Manhattan, New York City 0255 hours "I'm sending Alpha three out," Safara said. That was all she needed, she was out of the van running full speed before Safara had completed her sentence. The images from the laptops flashed through her mind as she ran towards Paige and Baz. It wasn't good, the meet had gone sour and now some freakin' idiot decided to complicate things. As she ran, she listened to what was going on, "Alpha One," Paige said, "get out of there, come back towards me." "Can you see him, Alpha One?" Baz asked. "Negative Alpha One, you see anything Tac 1?" "Negative, fall back," Simon responded. "Don't move Alpha One, we'll go around the other side," Paige said. "There's no time, cover me," Jordan ran forward, wanting to help provide cover for Baz, but then she heard gunshots, three to be exact. She ran faster, but she felt that she wasn't going anywhere. She entered the alley and saw Paige on her knees besides an unmoving Baz, while her gun was pointed at the cop. She ran towards them, pounding the pavement with her feet. She felt as though she was in a dreamthis can't be happening. Wake-up dammit, but she wasn't waking up and she was getting closer to Paige and the cop. "On your knees!!" she yelled at him, just waiting to see if he'd make a move. She'd be ready if he did, but he didn't. He got down and started to say something, she knew it should've made sense but it didn't. All she could hear was a mumble of words. "Shut up!" she yelled at him and then she looked at Paige who nodded at her. Good, we get to take him. She yanked his arms behind him and tied his wrists together with a plastic tie. He started talking againmore mumbo jumbo she couldn't understand. Why couldn't she understand him? She pushed him roughly to the ground, hoping the earth would crack open and swallow him whole. She walked towards Paige and stared at Baz's chest. Her heart was beating wildly and she gulped a few breaths of air and she felt the fuzz on her mind lifting for the moment. With Paige's help, they got Baz onto her back. He was pretty heavy, but she didn't mind. Paige pulled at the cop who kept shifting his eyes back and forth between the two of them. Crazy idiot. They approached the van and she saw Safara and Bella standing by the open doors. They thankfully helped her with Baz. They placed him gently on the floor of the van. "Who the hell are you people?" the cop asked again. This time she could make sense of the words, but she didn't answer him, no one did, except Paige who told him to shut up and then she smacked him with her casted arm. "Fuck," Paige said as she grimaced slightly from the pain. She probably shouldn't have done that, Jordan observed. She half listened to Paige as she talked to the detective. She stared down at Baz, still not believing what she was seeing. Paige's and the detective's words filtered in her mind. A blue ford, just outside the club. "Jordan," Saf said to her and she looked up. "Get the car and bring it back to the safe house." Keys were tossed in her direction. Car, righto. She nodded, but didn't say anything. She closed the van door behind her and breathed in the night air. She walked down the street towards the club. There was a long line of people standing outside of it. She looked around, watching people. Someone had to be with the cop, but she didn't see anyone to give her that indication. She walked around a bit, contemplated getting some coffee from the bogeda, but thought better of it remembering the awful coffee earlier. She unlocked the car and slide into the drivers seat. There was wrappers and empty coffee cup littered on the floor. Not a very clean guy was he? She put the key in and turned the car on. Looking over her shoulder, she edged out onto the road and headed back to the safe house. Thoughts of Baz filtered into her mind, but she pushed those out immediately. She'd deal with that later; first get the car back. She looked around the car some more, maybe there would be some more information on what he was doing there. She saw some papers on the floor, but they were too far away for her to reach. She pulled into the parking lot of the safe house and parked in an empty stall. She grabbed the papers and looked at them. Nothingjust some stupid flyers for dinner specials from some pasta place. She got out and slammed the door shut and walked towards the entrance. She heard a vehicle behind her and turned around to see the van coming in. She decided to stop and wait for them. She saw Paige get out first, who didn't look too happy. The others as well, fuck, what did she miss? Bella was the first to walk towards her. "You contact Gray?" she asked. Bella nodded, "Ya, he's not exactly pleased though. Pissed I'd say." "Oh lovely. What's next?" she replied. For the first time in months she was apprehensive of seeing Gray, apprehensive like she was returning to section to be eyed over by Operations. Return |
