June 10, 2008 2340 hours Staging Area "Three, you're coming with me," Paige spoke up finally as she was walking away from the van with their captive. She had spent the last minute or so watching the two of them, Paige with a knife in her hand, talking to the guy. She fell into step behind them, following as silent as they were. When the trees started to thin, she stopped and hid herself behind a tree. The captive still followed Paige. She could see the form of Bella and the guy who was with her, but she was too far away to see anything else. She watched as Paige gave their captive back, and Bella came over closer to Paige. Bella seemed a little unsteady on her feet. She watched, ready to fly into the clearing at the slightest hint of trouble. There was none though. The two men left and she saw Paige go over to Bella. "Alpha three, come up on our position." Paige said into her comm. Rising slowly she replied, "Acknowledged Alpha two." She walked towards them and came out of the trees, she looked at Bella, noticing how pale she was as she sat on the ground. "What's up, you alright?" she asked Bella. "Ya, I'm okay," Bella replied smiling a bit. Paige then nodded to her, "I'll lead, Bella in the middle, lets get back to the staging area." She nodded in reply and they slowly headed back. June 11, 2008 Staging Area 0945 hours She stretched her arms up high as she got out of the van. She wished it was night and they were moving. She hated all this waiting. Complete waste of time and this was supposed to be a quick one.or so she had thought once the briefing had been over. She just wanted to get home. She was anxious to get back. It had been four days since she saw Vanessa and she had promised to call her in a couple of days, which was two days ago. And the supposed conference she was going towhatever, she'd just have to deal with it when she got back. The bookstore seemed to be more and more engulfing her life. She spent less time worrying about SIA and more on her bookstore. In some ways that was good, but it was almost getting to the point that she was preoccupied with it. "Hey," Saf said, coming up to her. "Hey yourself. Getting any sleep?" "Ya, a bit. I'm restless though." "Tell me about it. How's Bella looking?" "Better I think, Paige told me at least, I'm not the medic." "Good." She was happy to hear that Bella was looking better. They sat in silence for a minute or two while she sat munching on her very appetizing energy bar complete with dried fruit. She hated the stuff, but need to eat, what she wouldn't do for a hot meal right now. For some reason, as she was sitting finishing her energy bar, she wondered what had happened to Sean. She wondered if he was still in Section or what. Now that she was thinking about him, she realized she hadn't seen him in Section for awhile, well, for a while before she left Section herself. She was curious because Sean had been a friend of Saf's from the past. She didn't know all the details of their relationship and doubted she ever would. She opened her mouth to ask Saf what had happened to Sean, but closed it again. She couldn't ask her, asking would mean giving away a clue of what was going on with her right now. Stay silent. She knew Sean has some military experience, she also knew that and Vanessa had a little of it, not military, but she could handle guns and explosives. She knew that. No, she couldn't do that to Vanessa; recruit her into SIA that would be evil. But, did she really have that choice? June 12, 2008 Outside the Dacha 0300 hours Jordan walk lightly to her first mark. The others were around her, getting into position. She took her position behind a tree where she had a clear view of the Dacha. She wasn't going inside, but Paige and Saf were. "Alpha three in position," she said into her comm. The Dacha was quiet and still. Jaime was in position and so was Bella. Now it was time for Paige and Saf to get into the Dacha. "Alpha two, Alpha four, you are in the clear," Jaime reported as Saf and Paige arrived at the wall." No guards had been alerted yet. She watched from her position behind a tree, Saf and Paige climbed up the wall, only the balcony and into the building. Now to wait...She remained where she was, listening to Saf and Paige report in on their various positions. It was Paige who reported in, saying the target had been acquired. "Tac 1, all units, egress initiated." "Copy Tac one," Saf said. "Alpha 3 returning," she stated and in one fluid motion she swung around and retreated back into the depths of the forest. She paused, realizing that Paige hadn't called in yet. Simon, apparently realizing the same thing, said, "Alpha two." Once Paige acknowledged, she continued back, but not far, in case they needed help. "Alpha Six, I've got company." Paige said. Jordan saw through the trees, guards running along the balcony, but she couldn't see where Paige and Saf where. She moved closer to the Dacha. The guards dropped, and Jaime said, "Alpha two and four, you're clear to go." Jordan sighed, relieved. What the hell was wrong with her, she was like a mother hen almost. It was routine; they had done this a million times before. She mentally shook her brain and headed back, meeting up with Jaime and finally the other three. When they arrived back at the staging area, Simon was already packing up. They all climbed into the van, with Saf driving again. She was the last one to get in and she closed the doors behind her. They pulled out, onto the road and headed back to the airfield. She just sat there, happy to be going back. It was about time. She stared out the back window of the van, watching the silent road. There were no cars at this time of the morning, well, only a few, but not many. She watched as two trucks came into view. They turned behind them as they turned. She waited a couple more minutes to make she in her assumption. "We're being followed," she told the group of them. Return |
