"Packages and Boredom"

Jordan sat up suddenly, causing Safara besides her to stir, but not wake. She had seen her parents so clearly in her dream, like she was standing right besides them. She could even faintly remember what they smelled like.

She had long since packaged up those memories, right along with the feelings for her parents. She felt nothing for them; after all, they weren't exactly `there for her.' Instead they were far too busy living their lives, making money and spending it on their great trips. Why think this now, after all these years that had gone by? It wasn't like she loved them and missed them, because she didn't. Then what was the problem?

The problem was Vanessa. Seeing her again, a person from her past was opening all the doors and windows to her former memories and they were flooding everywhere like a broken faucet. She got out of bed and went to the window. Outside, few cars were traveling on the street at this hour, but the signs were flashing and moving, unaware of the empty street.

She thought back to when Vanessa had seen her for the first time. They had chatted and she told Vanessa of what "happened." The truth would've been so much simpler, but she couldn't. She knew she couldn't, and why risk her life and others she cared about? She couldn't possibly even begin to comprehend what was happening with her and Vanessa. She shook her head, chiding herself for not telling Grey right away. If she had things would be have been simpler. Now, if she was to tell him there would be the questions as to why she did not come to him or Rebecca straight away like she was specifically told to. Such a mess she was in.

"Jordan, what's wrong?"

She jumped at Safara's voice and quickly wiped her face with the back of her hands. She did not really want to tell Safara what was going onbut her own stupidity of not being able to deal better with her own problems was left to blame.

Jordan moved back over to the bed and sat down on it, with her back against the wall. She did not look at Safara as she said, "I've been in contact with someone from my past."

Safara remained silent for about a full minute; Jordan swore she could almost hear Safara thinking. "Why are you talking to her?" Safara asked quietly.

"It wasn't my choice; she walked into my bookstore two weeks ago. She recognized me right away. I had no choice but to talk to her. I couldn't deny who I was because I knew she saw the recognition on my face"

She told Safara about the lies she told Vanessa and the second planned meeting they had, the dinner. What she didn't tell Safara about was her fear that Vanessa was someone else then she was appearing to be. Jordan didn't believe that Vanessa worked for Levi and that she got the job through her father. Not to mention Vanessa had seemed very curious to know where she lived. Jordan wasn't about to do that. In the back of her mind though, she figured that if Vanessa wanted to know where she lived all she would have to do is trace her phone number.

"So, now I don't know what to do. I think I should've told Gray right away, but what do you think they would do? Do you think they would act like Section?"

Safara shook her head, "Not like Section, they wouldn't kill her." Safara's voice, however, had some doubt in it and Jordan new that they shared the very same doubt about what the SIA would really do.

"What am I to do? I don't want to see her again."

Safara shrugged after a moment. "It would be detrimental to leave it alone any longer. Either do something about her or tell Rebecca."

She nodded, know that Safara was right. Something did need to be done because this was eating her alive. But what? Getting rid of Vanessa seemed almost easier then telling Rebecca.

Jordan looked at her watch on her wrist. It was about 5am.

"Might as well get going, I'm not going to get anymore sleep," she told Safara.

Safara nodded, "Sounds good."

As they walked in Tony greeted them.

"Good morning ladies, I have another file for you."

"Excellent," Safara replied as she took the folder from Tony's outstretched hand.

"I'll be in a meeting this morning until around 11, so any questions you have should be asked now or it'll have to wait."

Jordan looked quickly over at Safara before replying, "Thank you Tony, but we don't have any pressing questions at the moment."

Tony nodded and took a step back, "Good, I will speak with you later in the day then."

Safara and Jordon turned and headed to their temporary office.

12.25 hours

Jordan stared at the figures on the screen, watching them curl up into little balls and stop breathing. The gas had just been released into the HVAC system and people at the bank dinner were starting to feel the affects. The evacuation order had been received already, so there were minimal people in the bank.

She glanced over at Saf who sat stone faced looking at the screen. She couldn't help thinking about Bazand the night that changed her life; that changed all their lives. She quickly pushed Baz out of her mind and focused on the video. They still needed to determine whose fault it wasif any. Sometimes information just isn't available in time, that how people die.

The file ended and Jordan jumped out of her chair and started pacing. "So there are a couple of weird phone calls with small references to the bank."

"Right, but the wording makes it difficult to determine what they are talking about exactly. Oh, and in the file Tony gave us this morning it says that regular maintenance was done on the HVAC system the day before the incident." Saf interjected.

"Okay," she replied, thinking aloud, "So that's how they got it in and what it really boils down to are those phone conversations, wouldn't you say?"

Safara nodded, "Yes, they are so heavily coded; only a few select people would be able to pick anything out of them." Shrugging, Saf continued, "The information is there, in the purchase records and so forth, but I believe the telephone calls are key."

"Okay, so we need to crack that codes and determine if the outcome would be any different." Jordan commented.

"Yep and the possible group or groups responsible for the whole thing." Safara stated.

"Great. You're better at coding than I am, so I'll work on the possible groups, if that's okay with ya?"

Saf nodded, "Fine by me."

Jordan sat back down and grabbed the files she needed, relieved they were almost finished. As much fun as it was being at CTU, researching and paperwork wasn't her idea of an assignment.

Humming under her breath, she opened the file.
