From mission to debrief

Sleep had made her feel better, when she woke she felt stronger, perhaps not up to her best performance but well and strong enough to finish the simple mission that they had begun. She had gone over it once, and then wandered off, no one minding much as she pleaded nausea and went to get a drink. She felt fine, but bored. She climbed into the back of the van and grabbed her sketch book and pulled up a bit of ground in the fresh air to draw in it. Everyone was so intenseexcept perhaps Jaime he looked as bored as she would have been going through all that stuff repetitively.

The time had come, they had gone on mission, it had beenexecuted without any significant hitches and they had all returned safely to the van. Packed up on their way Bella sat thinking about things, nothing in specific just things. There was little chatter going on around her and what there was stopped when the report came in that they were being followed. Ordered were given, people given jobs. She smiles at the exchange between Simon and Bella. She had been given a non weapons position too, but that was ok, there would be other times. Van stopped and the move was made, some yelling, a few gunshots, nothing very interesting. Nothing seemed interesting to Bella at the moment, she had wondered if it was the drugs still? But nah she knew what it was and had no way of dealing with it until they got home.

Paige made jokes on the plane; it looked like the situation bothered her. Nope no trays can't keep them up. She much preferred the line about keeping your air hostesses in the upright position to the usual spiel; perhaps she had just heard it too often in the past. Ah rest now that was good. Now Paige was reporting in to Gray and Bell overheard her informing their leader of Bella's condition."I'm not going to the infirmary," she muttered to herself, not sure if anyone heard. She hated going to the infirmary especially for something that wasn't worth it. She lay back and closes her eyes, she wasn't going to be sleeping, she had done a lot of that already but she could rest. She could almost feel the kinetic energy coming off their team leader. Jaime was tapping way on a computer, and the others resting quite well.

So, these people, who were they, if she was going to trust her life to them she wanted to know what she thought of them. She supposed the best place to start was with their leader. Paige, cute, confident, and fairly insistent that people do not die unless they had to. Things seemed to bother her, and she took on way to much responsibility. That girl had looked at her closely and assessed Bella's condition about a million times since the exchange. Next time she was going to poke her tongue out at the medic next time she did it.

Jordan, friendly, this whole job seemed to be more of a sideline to her, the way she spoke about her books anyone would think that was the excitement of her life. Each to their own she guessed, and anyway she was sure that she would get to know the woman better, she made a conscious decision to take her up on her offer of dinner. Some friends would be nice.

Saf didn't say much, the silent type, not much seemed to bother her, and she seemed to know her job quite well.

Simon, typical computer nerd. Does it `cos he loves it, loves the idea of danger, but Bella wasn't sure if it would love him. Working with this group there was no doubt he could shoot a gun, but he really should stick to what he knew because the rest of the team might be completely screwed without him. He knew his place, and he enjoyed it. That was all that could be asked for. The people who love their job do it best.

Jaime, didn't seem to have the same respect for human life as Paige did. He seemed quite happy to shoot to kill. And he seemed quite attached to their team leader, many a quiet word shared. There was a history, Bella thought she might be able to guess, but it wasn't her place so she didn't bother. The man seemed quiet, but relaxed most of the time, sometimes verging on bored.

That was all of them and as they landed she wondered briefly what they thought of her. Oh well, maybe she would ask one of them sometime.

She must have fallen asleep on the plane because it had been quite short in her mind. They landed, stretched their limbs out and got out of the plane. Bella helped Simon with his gear again, why not he had nothing better to do. Not much happened as they made their way to the offices, Jaime didn't join them, he got lost somewhere along the way, no doubt it was planned.

Back at the safe house Paige once again looked at her to asses how she was and as she had promised herself she stuck her tongue out at the woman, gave a cheeky smile and told her.

`I'm fine and I'm not going to the infirmary, there is no need."

And there really wasn't she was feeling one hundred percent again. Paige made her own decision as was expected, and Gray took her word for it. They headed on up to the debriefing. Bella settled into a chair and prepared herself for a dull information session, she had her sketch pad open and was drawing, and probably would do so until someone told her to stop.
