IT’S MY 80th BIRTHDAY

It seems only yesterday                          It’s my 80th birthday.

when light dawned on me.                     Look, who’s here to greet me.

As I wriggled out of darkness                 Roll down the red carpet,

to herald the new day.                             It’s he, His Majesty!

Then I trudged on winding roads            Let’s rejoice, let’s rejoice!

as my founders nurtured me.                 It’s time to celebrate.

Not without struggles and pain               Fill the air with jubilation,

to reach this prominence.                       Beat the drum, sing a song!

Look at me now                                       Thank you, Your Majesty

after long years of labour.                        for lighting up our day.

A perfect haven for students                     This event a great episode

who need wisdom and care.                      of our glorious history.

Look at what I can offer                           It will always be remembered

to kids who seek refuge.                           with the passage of time.

I’ll take them up beneath my wings        The memory of your visit

to incredible heights of fame.                    will linger in our hearts.
