I saw her cry, I saw her laugh.
I saw her happy and I saw her sad.
I watched her take, I watched her give.
I saw her smile and I watched her live.
I saw it all because I was there.
I saw it all because I cared.
I gave it my all, While the world rolled on.
She gave it her all, And soon she'll be gone.
I see her now, sitting in her chair,
And I think to myself How life isn't fair.
Three whole years, gone in a blink.
What have I done? Was it enough, do you think?
For me it was natural, giving in to the call,
But I sometimes wonder if she knew it at all.
I cared for her so, so I'm sure that she knows,
and she can see my tears, as I'm watching her go.
Somewhere in there, in her fragile mind,
is the Gramma I once knew, loving and kind.
Our paths now must part, and our smiles will fade,
As we both move on from this place that we stayed.
Our minds and our souls, miles apart they must be
But in my heart, she'll stay always with me.

I'll never forget the laughter, the tears, the confusion,
the anger, the learning, the battles or the love.
Gram gave me a gift most people will never recieve:
While I was preparing for her death, she taught me how to live.
