There were boulders along the way
Trying to slow us down
But we always just climbed over them
As I tried to not let you down.
There was lots of mud and dirt
That could always hold us back
We just carefully pulled through it
And tried to stay on track.
There were plenty of sharp corners
From the hurtful things we said
Which made me look back
And wish I'd thought ahead.
We had lots of little bug bites
From the arguments we had
Now when I think about it
It really makes me sad.
We had our share of steep edges
Each one more difficult than the last
We got many cuts and bruises
But we reached the snow at last.
The snow-capped peak
Was the hardest I must say
But we trekked on
As the sun set that day.
We reached the very top
And looked down from above
And realized that this mountain
Was our brilliant love.
