(10) Second Conference of Myanmar Writers
and Journalists Association begins
YANGON, 22 June - Secretary-1 of the State Peace and Development Council
Lt-Gen Khin Nyunt addressed the opening
ceremony of the Second Conference of Myanmar Writers and Journalists
Association in Pyidaungsu Hall, Kyaikkasan Ground,
at 9:00 am today.
The Second Conference of MWJA was held at the same venue at 10:30 am.
Present were Minister for Information Maj-Gen Kyi Aung, Deputy Minister
Brig-Gen Aung Thein, Deputy Minister for Culture
U Soe Nyunt, Chairman of the (Central Executive Committee of MWJA U
Myo Thant (Maung Hsu Shin), Vice-Chairman U
Hla Myaing (Ko Hsaung), Secretary U Win Pe (Monywa Win Pe), joint secretaries,
members of CEC, delegates of Township
Writers and Journalists Associations, doyens of literati and guests.
In the morning session, U Hla Myaing (Ko Hsaung) presided over the
conference with members of the panel of chairmen U
Aung Ye Htut (Reporter Aung Ye Htut) of Myitkyina, U Mahm Thint
Naung (Mahm Thint Naung Kawkareik) of Hpa-an, U
Maung Shein (Tawlahtwe) of Mindat, U Bya Ye of Loikaw, U Ye Lwin (Thintbawa
U Ye Lwin) of North Okkalapa
Township, U Chit Htwe (Maung Chit Htwe Mahaweikza) of Htigyaint Township.
Joint Secretary Dr Tin Tun Oo acted as master of ceremonies.
U Hla Myaing delivered an opening speech.
U Myo Thant also spoke.
The summary of the report of the Central Executive Committee was read
by Daw Mya Mya Than (Ma Hnin Phwe), the
financial statement and condition of literary funds by U Saw Myint
(Maung Saw Myint), the audit report by U Kyi Nyunt
(Chitkyiye Kyi Nyunt) and records of condolence on the deceased by
Dr Tin Shwe (Sayawun Tin Shwe).
