Issue #3

I like this issue. The source of this strange "comic-liking" phenomenon is more than likely all the thought-bubble segments, which I probably had more fun drawing than anything in SDL before. I was basically soaking in the "Steve obsessed with Becky" storyline here, but this is the last issue fully dedicated to it. I swear.

Wow.. I thought I'd have more to say about this one, it being my favorite issue. I use a shading stump to make the shading in Steve's hair smoother now, can you tell? CAN YOU? .. didn't think so. From the beginning I (for some reason) wanted to do a scene where Steve and Becky met in a park setting, and the concept had many forms before this one. The "Mike" character came into the mix at the very last second, and I didn't have a name for him until long into the issue (yes, I just left the spot for his name in the word bubbles blank). I consulted many people for help on his name, but when I got the name "Mike" from three different people I decided it had to be the one.

Oh, and the tree. The goddamn tree. Most of this issue is in the park setting, so I naturally put trees in the background.. the thing is, I guess I can't draw them. Apparently, my trees look like:

a) A triangle with a puff on top   b) a nuclear explosion  c) Yeah, it's a tree. why is it talking?

I hate you all.

Anyway yeah, here's the third issue. Yup.
