"What happened?" he asked as he arrived at the castle and saw the worried look on Catherine's face.
"Duo, he…." He was still tired and weak from not feeding but at the mention of Duo's name anger rose up in his veins and he marched toward Trowa's room.
He barged into the room his eyes catching the crumpled heap upon the floor. He rushed over to Duo, ignoring the tall man standing before him. He wrapped his arms around his youngest brother and smoothed the tangled hair from his face. He saw the fear found in his eyes and his rage broke through the surface.
"What have you done?" he asked looking up at his older brother, pure hatred mirrored in his eyes.
"This is none of your concern." He said turning his back on them. Duo flinched as Heero's palm grazed his back and Heero's eyes caught sight of the burn and the blackening patches on his face and arms.
"Get out Trowa." He said through clenched teeth.
"No! Heero please…" Duo muttered.
"Get out Trowa! Or I will kill you with my bare hands!" he screamed.
"You have no right to…"
"Where have you been the last five years?" he asked as the family gathered in the room.
"What?"
"Where have you been the last five years?" he repeated. Trowa just stared at him. "Did you think I was stupid? Did you think I was sleeping all those years? I know where you were." Silence. " I know you have been on the other side, I know you have allied your self with the other clan."
"Heero…" Treize called.
"I know you have been baptized in their blood." He finished a look of triumph on his face. "Traitor." He smiled as the family gasped and looked disbelievingly at Trowa.
"You…"
"Leave Trowa." Heero ordered.
"Come on Duo." He called reaching for him. Heero felt the boy draw away from his outstretched hand but then he slowly began to move toward him. Heero held him where he was.
"Touch him again and I will rip your heart out before you." it was an insult, for a soul eater to be taken as a body taker's prize.
"Duo…" he called once more.
"Duo no." Heero whispered.
"Now Duo!" Trowa ordered.
"Breathe his name again body taker and I will destroy you." he threatened. Trowa looked at his younger brother strife rising between them.
"This is not over Heero." He said turning around.
"Far from it." Heero agreed. And Trowa walked away from them.
"Trowa!" Duo called reaching to his former lover writhing in Heero's arms. "Heero let me go!"
"Duo no…" he reprimanded him like a child again.
"Nooooo!" he called. "He will never forgive me if I don’t come to him! Can't you see?"
"He can't hurt you anymore!" he said stroking his hair pleading for him to calm down.
"Let me go! Heero you monster!" he screamed. " You made our family fall apart! I hate you! I hate you! I hate you!!!!" Heero looked at him stunned and his hand fell from his waist.
And Duo ran.

"Trowa!" he called reaching his lover before he disappeared through the iron gates. He fell into the taller ones arms soaking him with his tears. "I am sorry, please don't hurt me please!"
Trowa's eyes softened. "Come now Duo, we will go to the other side." He smiled.
"Beyond the wall?" he asked his eyes drifting toward the tall edifice on the horizon.
"Yes." Duo shook his head and began to step away from his older brother.
"I can't." he whispered.
"You dare disobey me?" he asked anger rising within him.
"Please Trowa, let us stay here on this side. I beg you please." He whimpered falling on his knees. Going through the wall was like leaving everything you ever were behind. They would go against their culture, against their upbringing, against their own family. Trowa was asking him to forget who he was.
"Come Duo." He whispered menacingly. Duo looked at him and stood up. What he was asking was beyond what he could give. And he found himself doing something he never thought he would.
"No." he defied him.
"Duo! You promised me!" Trowa screamed pulling his hair. Duo's tears began to fall once more and he held his maltreated hair trying in vain to pry them from his grip.
"Please there must be another way." He pleaded.
"Can't you see? I no longer belong here." he fumed. " This is the only chance we have to stay together! There is no other way."
"No Trowa! I will not betray my kind!" he whispered trying to stand up, he had never gone against Trowa and knowing that he had finally said no to him supplied him the courage he could not find. He tore his hair free from his grasp and stood up to face him.
"Do you not love me anymore?" Trowa asked suddenly lost.
"I do with all my heart I do!"
"But you will not come with me?" he said crestfallen.
"No I cannot." he whispered casting his eyes on the ground. A silence fell upon them.
"Then you have betrayed me as well. And I will never forgive you." he said turning his back on him and walking away. And Duo's tears began to fall.

"Duo?" he called coming out of the shadows. Duo sat on the grass his tears a river upon his face. And Heero came close to him, held him in his arms till he stopped.
