Impressionism

- A theory or style of painting originating and developed in France during the 1970s, characterized by concentration on the immediate visual impression produced by a scene and by the use of unmixed primary colors and small strokes to simulate actual reflected light.





Alfred Sisley


Alfred was born on Oct.30, 1839 in Paris France. Sisley had english parents so he was influenced to travel to London to have a business career. Alfred didnt didnt't like being a business man so he returned to Paris in 1862 to become an artist and, he also had the support of his family which was very important to him. This is were he met Renoir,Monet and Bazille who influenced Alfred in immpressionism. While Alfred was becoming a immpressionist his family was struggling to survive because of the cold war. Sisley's father lost his job and there only income was depending on Alfred, so alfred came back to London to support his family. This is were Alfred became a full time Immpressionist painter. Sisley was known for painting surroundings and great architects. Unfortunitly Sisley died Jan 29,1899.
