Welcome to the Scottish Free Radio Movement Website. Founded in 1968, the Scottish Free Radio Movement was set up to provide support and backup for several pirate radio stations which began operating independently, in central Scotland

Freedom

In the early days of the "SFRM" most of the pirate radio stations opperating under its umbrella were medium wave broadcasters providing an alternative to the BBC`s radio one. After the onset of ILR stations things became a little hot in Scotland for medium wave pirate radio and many stations closed, down or were closed down. The broadcasters who did continue switched their attentions to Shortwave which drew less attention locally. This website hopes to give you an insite into the history of land based pirate radio in Scotland l

Bonnie, who has been associated with the Scottish Free Radio Movement for many years is herself a keen DJ. With the help of Rodger Baron, she does all the administration required in the running of the SFRM. Bonnie Scotland
