Ch'onmach'ong Tomb
Ch'onmach'ong Tomb was discovered in 1973 and was designated as Ancient Grave No. 155. 8,766 accessories, 1,234 weaponries, 504 harnesses, 226 potteries, and 796 antiques were found leading to a total of 11,500 relics. A partrial of these relics in the Kyongju National Museum Annex and among them are the Ch'onmado (a painting of a flying horse) and a the golden crown. The golden crown is unique for the finest gold was used and the golden plate in the middle of the crown is thicker than any another made during the Shilla Dynasty. Also the Ch'onmado is the first of its kind ever to have been found in Korea's ancient tombs. Changni is a cover used to shield the horses's stomach from dust and dirt as well as an arnament. Ch'onma was drawn on layers of silver birch barks woven together and it is the only of art made in the Old Shilla Dynasty where chemical has not been used. The name of this ancient tomb has derived from this and the interior of the tomb has been repaired and is not open to the public.
