Cozoc got his start in the military by joining the New Republics ground forces. He first saw combat when he was sent with his unit of 5000 to Tatooine to stop a dark jedi who was raising an army and trying to destroy the galaxy. It was during this battle that Cozoc was recognized as a great warrior. Even when things seemed hopeless he was seen standing his ground releasing volley after volley of lasers from his blaster rifle. When he ran out of energy for his blaster, he drew his virbo ax and began slaughtering dozens of the foe. After taking well over six blasts to the chest he went down, but not out. He lay unconscious on the field for over three hours. When he awoke he found himself deserted by his army leaving him as dead. He says that during those three days in the desert walking towards the nearest civilization, he came to know himself better than he had ever before. It was from that time on that he began to hone his skills with a blaster rifle and vibro ax.
He joined back up with the New Republic and was highly decorated for his bravery on the field. Soon Cozoc was promoted to corporal, taking charge of a squad of 100 heavy infantry. His squad was one of the best.There wasn�t a job that they couldn�t do. After 3 years of serving with them they were sent to an encampment outside of the Skarcest to put down an uprising. Joined by three other squads they were moving in when his squad became pinned down by the enemy. The general seeing that it was hopeless ordered a full retreat.
As cozoc had given his order to retreat to the squad, he saw five troopers from his squad pinned down and not able to pull back. He started for them but was stopped by the general, telling him that their lives were expendable. Cozoc felt anger well up within him knowing that that was what must have happened when he was left for dead, fighting by himself. He backhanded the general, sending him to the ground, and replied �death is coming, but not today�. He then ran out to the five pinned down soldiers, and laid down cover fire for them. All of them were able to make it out alive.
After that battle Cozoc was dishonorably discharged. He was kicked out on the streets to live on his own. During one of his �jobs� he came across a striving jedi named Slick (A.K.A. Lord Barak). The two vowed to forever watch over one another. And to this day, they fight side by side, in the pursuit of fortune.
