X-MEN

A group started by Professor Charles Francis Xavier with the goal of aiding in the peaceful co-existence of humans and mutants.

Rogue

The young woman named  Rogue joined the X-Men in a last ditch attempt to learn how to control the genetic attributes that are both her blessing and her curse - namely the ability to absorb the memories and powers of others through the slightest touch!  Tragically, she has yet to master this talent - and so is compelled to keep even those she cares most for at arms length.

Gambit

Haunted by the sins of his past, one time thief Remy LeBeau seeks atonement by risking all as a member of the X-Men.  With the ability to charge any object with kinetic energy that is explosively released, Gambit seeks to forge a new life - and to prevent his friends from discovering his shameful secrets.  I think it is a definite shame that he was not included as a character in the upcoming X-men movie.  He is one of the coolest characters.

Iceman

Iceman (a.k.a. Bobby Drake), is the second youngest member of the X-Men.  He has the ability to turn himself into ice, shoot ice forth from his body, create ice shields and create bridges of ice for travelling on.  He resents Scott Summers for always treating him like an irresponsible kid.  Recently, it was revealed that Iceman's darkest, hidden fantasy is to become an extremely powerful and evil mutant.

Cannonball

The youngest member of the X-Men, Sam Guthrie joined the X-Men to help protect the world from evil and corruption.  His power is to be able to tranform his legs into a fiery inferno which helps him travel.  His body also has a much higher molecule density than that of normal human's and he is therefore near-indestructable.  The fact that he can fly at top speeds through any obstacles, has earned him the name The Human Cannonball.

Joseph

Once, he was known as Magneto - the greatest enemy of the X-Men, feared by all humanity.  Now amnesiac, he has no memory of his past - and so has dedicated his second chance at life to helping those he spent years trying to destroy.  His greatest fear - a fear shared by the friends who call him Joseph - is what will happen when the day comes when he recalls everything he's forgotten.

Bishop

Refugee from nearly a century in the future, the man known only as Bishop finds himself among those men and women who were the legends of his youth - the X-Men!  Forever separated from most of his family and friends, Bishop uses his ability to absorb and rechannel energy to fight for a brighter tomorrow - and searches for a place in a world totally alien to him.

Beast

One of the five original pupils of Charles Xavier, Hank McCoy is not only possessed of super-human agility, strength, speed, and endurance - he is also a one time Avenger and a world renowned biochemist.  As an X-Man, Hank uses both his physical gifts and scientific genius to create a better world for both man and mutant.

Professor Xavier

Professor Charles Francis Xavier has dedicated his life to fighting for peaceful coexistence between man and mutantkind.  To aid in this crusade, he established the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning to secretly train young mutants in the use of their abilities - and the X-men were born.  An incredibly powerful telepath, Professor X can read the thoughts of others, impose his own will upon someone elses mind, and even erase one's memory.

Cyclops

One of the five original pupils of Professor X, Scott Summers joined the X-Men while trying to find a place where he could be both accepted, and could learn to control his powers.  Cyclops has no physical control over the optic blasts that shoot forth from his eyes continually, but if he wears Iridium Alloy sunglasses over his eyes then his power is disabled.  He has interesting family ties.  Havok, leader of the rogue group of mutants, the Brotherhood, is Cyclops' brother.  Jean Grey is his wife, and both Cable and X-Man are his sons from alternate realities ... and he has a strange connection with Polaris.

Wolvie

His first name : Logan.  His last name : Unknown.  The most wild and feral member of the X-Men, Wolvie is a rebel with a cause, but one that he too often chooses to ignore.  He uses his mutant powers of regeneration, his super-human sense of smell and his retractable claws to wreak havoc on all evil in the world.  During the final battle with Magneto, all of the adamantium in Logan's skeleton was ripped out by the Master of Magnetism, and his claws became made of bone, and were breakable.  When Apocalypse took Logan as his Horseman of Death, he restored his claws, and now they are made of adamantium again.  Since that time Wolverine has gone more feral, and now is extremely nasty looking.  Wolverine is one of the most popular characters of all time.  I think that it's a shame that for the new X-men movie, Hugh Jackman, an Australian Opera Singer, was chosen, as  I don't think he will be feral, and wild enough.  Plus he's too tall.

I must now eat my words, as I have seen the X-men movie, and while it was lacking in some areas, it was still a movie which was much better than average.  Also Wolverine rocked, and it appears that Hugh was the right choice afterall.

Jean Grey

This mutant telepath is one of the most powerful in the world.  She is married to Cyclops, and is definitely a good gal.  She has limited telekinetic powers, but she makes up for that by being the second most powerful mutant telepath, after Proffessor X.  Her powers of the mind were increased amazingly, when she was exposed to the power of the Pheonix.

Storm

Storm as her name suggests has control over all aspects of the weather.  Her real name is Ororo Munro, and she was born in Cairo, Egypt.  She is also the official leader of the Morlocks, after she defeated Callisto in hand to hand combat, yet she only visit the Morlock's tunnels once a year, as she is claustrophobic.  As a young woman in Africa, she was worshipped as a god.  She's also destined to marry Logan, and get a bad haircut.
