Man, today was awesome. I got up at like 6:30, and it was sweet, Jack took Nick and Tom and I out to Chuck's property (dude from church), and we made a day of just sawing down and sectioning and dragging dead trees to the trailer, so we could take them home. We sorta need this wood for the winter.
THEN (and this is further awesome), Pastor Doug (who is sadly leaving) came up with his Ford 250, which is this huge honkin POWER truck, and with it we could move a whole cord* at a time up to the house, we REALLY appreciated his help. Alas, near 1 or 2 o'clock he needed to leave, to prepare notes for Sunday. He worked hard! That's the kind of person he is, his passion is for the people and their everyday needs. He'll do well in Kansas-near-Oklahoma-wherever, I trust God'll really bless him with those rancher dudes!
Later on for the final 2 wagonloads, Chuck himself and his wife came down, and helped us move logs with his John Deer tractor, it was awesome. All total, we cut about 7 cord of firewood for this winter. We'll need it! I dunno why but, it was fun. Call me dumb, i know.
And then when we got home, what did Mum have for us!? Did we have twice-baked potatoes for supper? Did we have a salad, did we have chimichangas, did we have her famous marinated chicken, did we have burritos? Yes! We had them all! It was awesome. We had to save some as leftovers, there was so much. Thanks Mum!
And we were trying to teach Bradley this one cool song
Me: You say 'yes'
Brad: I say 'no'
Me: You say 'stop'
Brad: I say 'go'
Me: You say 'goodbye'
Brad: and I say 'hello'
it was cool, he about learned it. It's a good song for a 3-yearold to learn. A good song for anyone to learn really.
*** a cord of lumber is measured when it is cut and stacked; it is a volume of 4 x 4 x 8 feet.
But anyways. The family went garage-sailing while i was working one other day, and i gave Tom all this money, and a list of classic rock artists, and told him to get me some records if he sees any, so he apparantly hit the jackpot.. he got me:
CCR: greatest hits (2 record set)
Monkees: (self titled)
Aerosmith: toys in the attic
Fleetwood Mac: (self titled)
- english rose
Beatles: abbey road
- hard days night OST
- help! OST
- sgt peppers lonely hearts club band
- magical mystery tour
- the beatles again
So guess what kinda fun i've been having, the past few days! Old school, man, rock it.
