MOOD: what a relaxing week, yo
MUSIC: The sounds of the forest, and the best mix of the 80's, and 90's, and today.
Sunday, got up, had a nice toast breadkfast, went to Chapel-in-the-Hills with the folks; the message was Hebrews ch. Ten. Jack's sister is Catholic, so they didn't come with us... they went to their own church down the canyon somewhere else.
This afternoon we hiked a mile or something, all 13 of us, along some trail in the National Park. Tom, Dave, Nick and I managed to turn it into an adventure worthy of remembrance in song, for generations! It was the classic 'White Warrior' adventure from high school... i only wish Jesse'd been able to be the Shadow Warrior once again :)
After which, i went up with Jack to Pastor Doug's place, to pick up a canoe and a camper for the trip to Lake Granby. (I swear, I am going to be worn out by all these family outings, here and there, it's getting downright wearisome! :P And tomorrow we all go to Water World. Yi yi yi! (Secretly, Water World is not a place i could spend all day at, without at least a friend or two. I've been there way too many times. Luckily my bros. are gonna be there, so i'll have someone to hang with.)
This week: a very good one! Monday i was at Water World, which was totally relaxing. I got to play around with Bradley some, in the kiddie pools and everywhere. It was hot, i burned slightly in the face, but it was all good, despite my evil prophecy above.
The rest of this week, I spent in vacation with the family and step-family. Twas tres fun, we went everywhere in that canoe, and made these excessively huge fires every night, and played card games like Uno and Phase 10 and Skip-Bo and Rat Slap, and a few of the days we took walks on some trails, (Bruce managed to get us out of walking too much: "oh, i already seen enough mountains on my trip" hehe) We went to town some days to go MiniGolfing, and grabbing Ice Cream, and i guess buying stuff, like hats.
All in all, the week was pretty cool -- VERY relaxing; we were luxury camping (as opposed to LaVida camping) so I could lounge around and read for HOURS. Bruce, i found out is a kindred spirit that way, which was cool. I never really knew anyone besides myself who'd rather read stories around a campfire on a hot day than go hiking. (As much as i like to meander around the woods!) But anyway.
Every night, 3 nights straight when it was clear, i'd pick up my astronomy book and from sunset at 10pm to 1am i'd look around at the heavens, and to my utter glee, it turns out Tom and Dave and also cousin Braden and Nick were interested in all the stars, so, y'know what they say, you learn by teaching? Well it sure helped, and it was a lotta fun. Dave, who's gonna see if he can join his friend Amanda in Brazil next summer, was especially excited about the Crow and the Scorpion and the Wolf and all the southern things... I'm so jealous! He's gonna see the MAGELLANIC CLOUDS!! Gee whiz, Dave you lucky duck.
